I have two cats, Molop (8) and Tafetta (4), both indoor outdoor cats. They always used to get on pretty well. They played together and stuff. Molly was in charge and Taff was fine with that.
Recently Taff came in with a very deep cut on her leg/foot. We took her to the vet, and she ended up having to have stitches (including one stitch in a broken tendon) and she had to wear a cast. Because the cast had to be kept clean and dry, the vet told us she would have to stay inside until it came off. Because we have cat flaps, this meant confing her to a room (my dad's bedroom) so that she couldn't leave the house. Moll was a bit confused by this and because she could hear Taff.
Ever since Taff has been allowed out again, they have been acting strangely. Taff pretty much completely ignores Moll, when she used to spend a lot of her time trying to persuade Moll to play with her. Moll is acting outright hostile. She hisses and growls and Taff and doesn't want to go near her. Although she's alright when away from Taff, when Taff is in her line of sight she acts hostile in this way to people, too, and wont be stroked or picked up.
Does anyone have any ideas on why there has been such a dramatic change in their behaviour? Or advice for dealing with it?
