Walker's salt and vinegar crisps no longer vegan

I just found out today that Walker's salt and vinegar crisps now have milk in them (they were vegan before). I don't know when they changed the recipe but I checked in a shop on the way home and they do say on the back "now contains milk". Good job I didn't just grab a bag without realising...

They haven't been vegan for ages I dont think, certainly since I went vegan last year. Salt n Vinegar potato crisps usually have milk in them apparently but not maize type crisps.

the only walkers crisps i know are vegan are ready salted.

crisps are evil anyway - full of fat

one of the girls in work just confirmed it for me. i didn't know they did that, i always check the back of the packs but then again i haven't eaten any for aaaaaaaages. kinda sneaky of Walkers, for unsuspecting vegans

Ah perhaps (at the first bit, not the slagging off of Americans)... after all, Lays potato chips look exactly like Walkers crisps (apart from the name) on the front so are probably from the same people.

And my fiancée is American, and she's lovely. Not all Americans are the same.

Have you actually tried that before? All it did when I tried it as a nine year old was make the crisps soggy.

It DID taste like salt and vinegar though, I'll give you that.

Excellent, my second most-favourite flavour is still vegan.

I noticed a lot of salt and vinegar flavour items on that list though... why are those still vegan when the standard S+V crisps now contain milk?

Probably for the same reason as whatever the answer is to this question: Why are the smokey bacon flavour crisps vegetarian when the cheese and onion crisps have animal rennet in them?

hahaha good call, but too true, i used to do it when i was kid at my nans, she only ever bought ready salted so i would always add my own vinegar, im pretty sure i ended up drinking half the pack or using a spoon

but anyway, yes, i noticed this a few weeks back, it annoys me, I always buy multipacks when im at uni, and it is so so SO annoying, when my parents or myself, buy loads of crisps to stock up

and then i get home and i randomly just check the backs after about a week, and then there it is "contains milk"

its stupid, once uve checked things you dont expect to have to look every single time

i think it should be a legal requirement to say on the front that it "now contains milk"

i know they usually say "new enhanced flavour" or something, but to be honest, most crisps seem to have that plastered on the front of the packs for their whole lives so you never know if its actually a new new flavour, or if its still the same new flavour from the last "update" a week ago

who knows

maybe i should give up and just not eat crisps, it's too annoying

Please. I've never seen so many "almost vegan" snacks in the US as I have hear. And seriously...mint and lamb crisps? Gag me.
