Why am I just now trying these? And why are they so good? I just tried the apple sage flavor and they are so good....Field Roast is the bomb! Just thought I'd share...

I bought a package of the Smoked Apple Sage today when I was at Whole Foods. Haven't tried them yet (planning on trying them Saturday or Sunday, probably), but I'm hoping they're good since I"m hearing good things about them.

I tried the Mexican Chipotle a while back and didn't like them. I didn't like the texture (it was somewhere between crumbly and tough) or the spices (strange because I like spicy foods, but they were spicy in a way I didn't enjoy). But I'm definitely open to trying another variety because, for the most part, I love anything with seitan/VWG in it. And the apple does sound good. So we'll see. I'm almost hoping I hate them because they're pretty expensive.

The apple sage sausages are awesome!! I'm not crazy about the Italian or Chipotle flavor nearly as much but the apple sage work for a tofu scramble breakfast, an easy lunch or worked into a dinner. I like to chop them up, add a hefty amount of hot sauce, and cook them with potatos o' brien. It's an easy, tasty dish.

Well, I had one of my smoked apple sage sausages for dinner tonight and it was delicious!

I think it would be awesome on a bun with some cranberry sauce, but I just ate it plain tonight.

I looked for these at Whole Foods and couldn't find them.

I still have hope though, there is another Whole Foods that has more selection that I can go to. I was visiting a friend and went to the one by her, which is a little smaller.

Good luck! They're delicious and definitely worth looking for. I found mine with the tofu/seitan/soy cheeses/faux meats in the refrigerated section.

Oh that is good to know, thanks! I was thinking they would be in the frozen section. Although I was definitely in the refrigerated section too, got some gardein, vegan cheese, and deli slices, and didn't see the Field Roast brand -I saw a post about their deli slices too, but I ended up buying the Tofurky. My (omni) bf gets the Yves deli slices and likes those, I do too, but wanted to see how Tofurky compared.

Glad you liked the Apple Sage sausages. I'm heading to WF this weekend to get some more of those. I may also try one of the other flavors as well. I'm getting hungry just thinking about it!

They're pretty inconspicuous, so it's easy to overlook them. I don't know if you've seen the packaging yet, but the come individually wrapped (but linked with the plastic wrapping, like a lot of "real" sausages) and arranged in a sort of triangle with the band around the middle.

ETA: Here's a link to a picture of the packaging. Hope that helps anyone looking for them.

Thanks for the picture! I know everyone seems to like the Apple Sage the best, but I have to say, my usual tastes would have gravitated toward the Italian or the Mexican Chipotle... whenever I do find them, I'll probably pick 2 to try.

I tried the chipotle and really wasn't a fan. I love spicy foods, but it was too spicy, and in a bad way, for me. Surprising since I love chipotle flavored anything.

Haven't tried the Italian yet since I was never much of a fan of Italian sausage as an omni. I might have to try it sometime, though. I'm pretty sure my (omni) husband would like it even if I didn't, so it's probably worth getting since someone should eat it either way.

I just tried the Italian sausage for dinner. They weren't bad, but I was underwhelmed. Something was missing. Maybe I'll try it in a recipe of some sort that calls for Italian sausage. I ate mine on a bun this time. It was only so-so that way. The Apple Sage is still far and away my favorite.

I think that may be it. It was more bland than I expected. I will try them in some pasta or something.
