Genetic Modification:Not bad in and of itself, but has a lot of potential for danger and oppression, giving power over our food supply to the oligarchy. Generally against. I don't trust it will be used responsibly and altruistically.

Greenpeacesee my thread!! ) OK, but I have suspicions about them, are they the enviro's answer to PETA? They are seriously in debt, there may be better people to give money to. Frustrated that they do not pay more attention to agricultural issues.

PETA:Have and do a lot of good. Unfortunately, they undo a lot of that good through giving themselves a blackeye in the arena of public support.

ELF:political action would be much more effective, their tactics are not only immoral in some situations, but lose public support. I wonder how many ELFers aren't just young kids trying to feel like they are saving the world, nevermind the cause or the means. I know that mentality, I knew people like that at my college. Kids who wanted to lead a "revolution" with little care as to which one or the bigger picture.

SHAC:Stop Huntington Life Sciences? Are these the people that beat somebody with a baseball bat? If so, I think HLS does horrible stuff, that's for sure, but I have always paid more attention to the movement to help animals for food.

The World Trade Org. (WTO): Do not know enough to make an informed statement

Cloning of Animals/Humans: Unecessary. Not bad bc of "playing God" or anything bad if bad consequences.

Irradiation of Food: I have seen some suggestion that this may be harmful, but nothing solid. However, I feel the burden of proof is on the irradiators. My main complaint with it is it is supposed to be a cureall for meat contamination. Sterilize it all you want, but sh** on your food is still sh**.

When I want produce to stay fresh longer, I buy frozen.

Genetic Modification: Noooooo!!!!

Greenpeace: Are they still around? For the most part I support them but not in a blank check kind of way.

PETA: Just when I think they could be decent they get twisted and act crazy about some issue.

ELF: Yikes where is compassion?

SHAC: I know nothing

The World Trade Org. (WTO): Not nuts about this organization. Then again I have no sympathy for the anarchists that oppose them.

Cloning of Animals/Humans: absolutely against. Who owns the soul of the life that results? Sounds like a formula for slavery and body part harvesting. STOP

Irradiation of Food: No No No No No No

Genetic Modification: no thanks

Greenpeace: they still have my vote for the most part

PETA: they can go overboard but i don't disagree with everything they do.

ELF: same as PETA, but they are just gaining more enemies than 'converting' so they need to calm down and play a bit nicer.

Cloning of Animals/Humans: hell no.

Irradiation of Food: hell no.

my preferred activist 'organization' is Sea Shepherds Conservation Society. i've looked into doing activist work with them, but at this point in my life (school!) i can't donate a year to be on a boat, heh.

Here we go:

Genetic Modification: Very strongly against if it is to add more pesticides to food. Otherwise I am still against it but not as much.

Greenpeace: I support most of what they do.

PETA: I'm ambivalent here. They do some good things but a lot of stupid things that hurt more than they help.

ELF: There heart is in the right place but they have lost track of what is important. I can't support a lot of what they do.

SHAC: similar to ELF

The World Trade Org. (WTO): This is probably one of the worst organizations around. It's all about subverting democracy and exploiting workers particularly in the global south.

Cloning of Animals/Humans: It raises way too many ethical isses for the small good that it may do.

Irradiation of Food: WHy would anyone want to do this? If we toke better care of the food in the first place, the issue wouldn't come up. I would never want to eat irradiated food.

Genetic Modification: NO!

Greenpeace: Undecided

PETA: They are insane, but they are making a difference, doing things that actually do help animals.

The public just rarely hears about those things.

ELF: These people are giving a bad name to all ARA.

SHAC: See ELF.

The World Trade Org. (WTO): undecided

Cloning of Animals/Humans: totally against it, i agree with Kamila

Irradiation of Food: oh the horror!

Genetic Modification: Of food? Hell no.

Greenpeace: Financially? No. For their right to do what they do? Absolutely.

PETA: Financially? No. For their right to do what they do? Absolutely.

ELF: No. At least not when they violate the law, do stupid anti-productive things, and when they cause financial harm to others.

SHAC: Don't know what this is.

The World Trade Org. (WTO): Abolish it.

Cloning of Animals/Humans: I haven't thought of a good reason to do this at all, but cloning cells is vital.

Irradiation of Food: No. Horrible, horrible band-aid fix of a problem that shouldn't exist in the first place.

Genetic Modification: No

Greenpeace: What they stand for = Yes

PETA: Yes & No (Love what they stand for - hate a lot of their tactics......but overall I believe the good they do outweighs some of their stupid antics)

ELF: No (I don't like their tactics)

SHAC: No (see above)

The World Trade Org. (WTO): Based on what I've read (which is not really enough to make an informed opinion - but - No

Cloning of Animals/Humans: Don't know enough about it

Irradiation of Food: No

Genetic Modification: Nope

Greenpeace: Sure

PETA: To an extent

ELF: I appreciate what they want, but not how they go about trying to achieve it, so I guess I don't

SHAC: I haven't paid enough attention to give an honest answer

WTO: From what I know of them - No

Cloning: Totally against it

Irradiation of Food: Totally against it

With the extent that science is taking things, some day pigs really may fly

That would be horrible

There are a lot of funky promises I'd have to keep then

I am ashamed to admit that I am somewhat uninformed on many of these, and that is due to my own lack of information-searching. The issues here that I do know a little bit about I only know a little bit about, and I haven't researched them thoroughly yet.

Genetic Modification: What I have heard turns me off. I'm scared by the potential side effects, and I just don't see any compelling reasons to continue experimentation in GM.

Greenpeace: Don't know much, but the name sounds pretty.

PETA: Ugh. I think in some ways they're well-intentioned, but many of their tactics and extreme positions turn me off.

ELF: That's the cute little one who hangs out with Santa, right? I think it's pretty obvious I don't know much here.

SHAC: Love shac, baby love shac... No? Darn, I don't know anything here either.

The World Trade Org. (WTO): I've heard a few viewpoints on this org, and most of it is negative.

Cloning of Animals/Humans: THERE IS NO NEED! If there were like 5 people left on the planet, and they needed a few more oxen to help plow a field so they could be sure to have food later, then maybe I could see a potential need for more people and more animals. I also cannot STAND the idea of people or animals being cloned just to use their "spare" body parts. It's one thing to become an organ donor yourself, but it's entirely another to create someone for the sole purpose of extracting their organs from them without their consent.

Irradiation of Food: It sounds bad. What is it supposed to do?

Genetic Modification: Against it.

Greenpeace: I like them.

PETA: Such a good idea but only being put into partially good practice.

ELF: No. Fire is not always good.

SHAC: I so admire that they want to stop HLS but I can't agree with their tactics.

The World Trade Org. (WTO): I know too little to really judge, but I have heard bad things.

Cloning of Animals/Humans: There are so many potential negative aspects to this that they completely outweigh any positive ones.

Irradiation of Food: An outright no on this one.
