Thought it might be nice if you could share your personal achievements etc?

Anyway... Today, my mother brought home a load of 'free from' food (I love how accepting she is towards my veganism!), and the brownies she bought, which looked absolutely delicious, had eggs in it. I politely refused them. I would never have been able to do that a few months ago!

My achievement lately has been breaking out of my food rut. When I first went vegan a few months back, I settled into a comfortable routine of only eating certain foods that I was familiar with, and as a result, a few weeks ago I got incredibly bored with my food. I made a point to try lots of new recipes (the arrival of summer has helped with this, so much great fresh produce!) and banned myself temporarily from eating the 4-5 things I'd been eating the most. I'm so much more happy and satisfied with my food now and I know that's going to make it all the easier to stay with veganism going forward.

Nothing compares to another person telling you they're vegetarian because of your example or personal guidance, and I've been fortunate enough to hear that 20 times or so now. It gets better every time. It really blows every other veg*n milestone up to that point completely out of the water. It goes from esteem building to world building levels of awesome.

I've recently cut out eggs and milk completely from my diet, whereas before I wasn't too bothered by a little bit of egg white or dried milk in ready-made things (like tofu).

Also a few days ago I was talking about my views online and a few people want to give up meat, at least a few times a week at first, and loads want to give up products tested on animals. Im so proud I made that happen.

I have been vegetarian for 2.5 years. My husband of almost 22 years became vegetarian 3 weeks ago. Not for me but for himself.

My husband has gone almost completely vegetarian b/c of me. He orders veg*n food when we go out now. And, he has lost 15 lbs, which he badly needed to do. It is so much better this way b/c I actually have someone who supports me who eats pretty much the way I do. Is he perfect? No. He is eating meat around 1x per week. But, it is a start.

I've been vegetarian for just over six months and the one food that I never thought I'd be able to give up was chicken shawarma. I went to a screening of Earthlings and the next day I ordered falafel instead of shawarma. Sounds silly, but it was a big deal for me.

A few months ago, I contacted a company to enquire about the vegan-ness of a product. Never done that before

As someone who used to eat chicken, turkey or fish about 12 times per week, in the past week I only had chicken once. And I haven't missed it. I've also barely had any dairy and bought Daiya and soy yogurt..I love both!

I went Vegan on June 19th/2011, and while I fell off the wagon a couple of time and paid dearly afterwards (and won't make that mistake again), I've been able to stick with it. Now I just have to deal with our close minded omni friends, and already I'm fed up with the flaming I get from them. I feel that Vegan is something that I will be for a long long time. Feel the best way to get back at them is to bring killer Vegan baked goods to the various events we go to, and not say anything till after they've eaten it, to show them that Vegans can eat tasty and yummy food without there being animal products in it.

There was cake at my church youth group, and I refused it (politely!).
What was SO sweet though, was when I told one of my youth leaders why in particular, they said they'd bake some Vegan cake especially. I almost cried with gratitude.

Before I went vegetarian about five months ago I was horridly picky and hardly ate any vegetables. The amount of meat consumed in our household was unbeliavable. Therefore the start of my vegetarianism wasn't particularly peachy and I practically lived on noodles for the first month. When I first started to try new foods without prejudices I was incredibly proud of myself.

I started this whole vegetarian experiment two days ago and haven't stumbled yet. By itself that's no big deal, but I work at a fast food joint where no one cares if you grab a chicken strip or some bacon. Mighty strong temptations.
