Have you ever envisaged a time or situation in your life when you could be famous for 15 minutes? Perhaps it has already happened, and you still revel and brag about it, or just wish it never occurred?

Any tales of joy or woe, are welcome.

I was an extra in a movie when I was 10. It took about 9 hours for a 3 minute scene, in which my only role was to sit under a desk during a bomb drill (the movie takes place during the Cuban Missile Crisis. We must have been on like take #87, and my attention span was long depleted. On the one that ended up making it to the big screen, my finger, or more precisely damn near my whole hand, was up my nose.

So if anyone ever sees the movie "Waiting for the Light" with Teri Garr and Shirley Maclaine, pay attention during the classroom scenes. When you see a kid sitting under a desk picking his nose, that's me during my minute of fame.

I went to the Bozo show twice in my lifetime.....once when I was younger and was picked to play bozo buckets and had a blast and then when I was older....I was in high school and went and was on camera in almost every shot....I had the best time and got to meet my fave cookie the clown.

I was also in the newspaper as a kid when my balloon flew away and I was trying to go catch it....it made a cute kid puff piece story and everyone said I looked adorable while trying to climb into the sky for my balloon.

Damn! That movie was on This-TV just this morning. I even watched the beginning credits, but decided not to stay with it. If only I'd known....

Hmm, there are a few things that come to mind. Fame is a tough thing, though, as it requires mass recognition, and I never achieved that. Here are a few embers of excitement:

I gathered some fame from performing with my band in the mid 90s. Actually went to a state I've never been before and had people at our show that recognized us from shows back in NY. That was something else.

I recently was an extra in 'Hick' and was in about 3 scenes. One was an establishing shot in which I sat on a bench and eventually walked across the shot. Another was when Chloe Mortez gets on the bus, and the camera was following her in and points right at me and my friend sitting in the front seat. Other scene was just background. I'm still waiting for this to be released to see if I'm in this, but I'm the guy in red pants. Another friend got to push around a soda machine.

On November 2nd, 2004 (during the US election results), I was in Germany participating in two shows as part of a 100 person choir for Einstürzende Neubauten which took place in the old East German Parliment building before it was torn down. Me and my drummer are visible on the DVDs and some videos online for a little bit here and there.

I did other things that I remained behind the scenes on, like making a anti-bush wristband and sold some to Richard Pryor before he died. Designed a G.I. Joe toy as a kid. In the late 80s, I called the White House collect and subsequently caused them to block collect calls.

Probably some other things too.

The closest I ever came to 15 minutes of fame was when I realized I can look myself up on IMDB and I have a few credits for various reality shows I've worked on and some documentaries/shorts. It's a small thing but it was still an awesome surprise

When I was in high school and competed in math competitions and academic games, I got mentioned in the newspaper a few times. My school had really good teams for that stuff, and I was one of the top guys on the teams.

I've performed at a few Ren Faires, but I was never the main performer in any show.
