The teachers I work with seem to LOVE the chain-style restaurants like TGI Fridays, Red Robin, etc...

I'd heard rumor that Ruby Tuesday's had a VEGAN veggie burger (and they already have a KILLER salad bar!!) so I convinced my staff to head there for their weekly lunch meeting...

Sure enough, their veggieburger patty IS vegan (hold the cheese) as are the amazing fries and a huge salad bar... When talkoing to the manager afterwards, he said 90% of the locations had a VEGAN burger, so to ask when you're there, but they are all supposed to be switching to the new burger this fall sometime...

Juat thought I'd spread the word. (So hey - drop them a positive comment if you get a chance!)

It's nice to have ONE chain-style place that has an acceptable choice here in town - and even better, all my co-workers decided they liked it too, so we'll be going back!

Now if I could just get them far enough out of their comfort zone to try Thai...

No way! That's awesome! I used to love Ruby Tuesday but stopped eating there and switched to Uno's. I'll have to check the one in my area now to see if they are carrying the vegan burger.

I'm going there today, I hope they haven't changed the burger, it was the best veggie burger I've ever had.

The first year we went to Cedar Point (3 years ago?) they told us their fries were fried with lard. I think that's changed but I can't remember for sure.

I ate there last week for lunch. The veggie burger was probably one of the best I have ever had. I love their salad bar as well. They let me substitute a baked potato for the fries for no extra charge. I will definitely be going back.

Oh, awesome! Too bad the nearest ruby tuesday is more than 1000 miles away. I'll have to have one next time I'm on the east coast though.

Well, I can honestly only vouch for the one I was at - as the manager told me, most are going to the vegn burger, though you need to ask - so maybe call ahead if it's a special occasion.

I was shown their veggie-burger ingredient label and also assured the frying oil they used was vegetable oil (though didn't actually see a label - I've never actually ASKED to see an oil label, just always take their word for it) - however, at least in previous experiences, there is a definite "taste" that lard-fried items have and (to me at least) it's VERY obvious...

I didn't like it at all, especially when compared to the previous burger. It was like 2 boca burgers smooshed together.

Glad you guys like it but it's definitely not something I'd go back for. And even though they have a nice salad bar $7.49 seems a little unreasonable.

Really? For all-you-can-eat? $7.49 seems pretty good, IMO, especially if it's a good one (IOW, not like Round Table or Pizza Hut, but like Sweet Tomatoes).

Their salad bar is a bit bigger than Pizza Hut's, but not even on the same scale as Sweet Tomatoes!

However for the $7.49 price it is an "all-you-can-eat", or you can pay for just a "one-trip" salad.

If that helps!

Michael; for the record, my kids said pretty much the same thing about the burger - it was too "big" and boring for their tastes...But they eat their burgers boring and plain anyway, so <shrug> can't blame them really...

I smother mine with EVERYTHING - pickles, avacado, onions, mushrooms, BBQ sauce, tomatos, peppers and on and on, so my opinion of the taste is probably quite different.

They'll also do the side of sauteed portabellas in OIL - not butter - if you ask pretty please... those make the burger ROCK!

I used to work for ruby tuesdays and vowed I'd never eat there again. Resturant workers tend not to get their legaly required breaks, etc. but I've never been treated as poorly as a worker than I have at Ruby Tuesdays. From others I've talked to about their experiences working at different locations I'm pretty sure its chain wide. No one should have to work a 12 hour shift without sitting down making minimum wage. There is a rule about having a break area for employees because apparently sitting down is unprofessional, you are however allowed to drink a drink in front of the dishwasher.

thebelovedtree; it's not chain wide entirely. Two of my sisters worked their way through college working at Ruby Tuesdays (several years back) and they LOVED it, they wouldn't have kept working in a horrible environment.

However, just as with the whole vegan/NOT-vegan burger thing, each restaurant is going to be different.

It was... alright.

I loved the salad bar though. Haven't seen such a selection of veggies in a long time. Even had dried cranberries. yum.
