I work at Fazoli's, and naturally, I have to work lunches and dinners a lot because, well, that's when people want to eat! The problem is, my shifts are normally 5pm-9pm or 10am or 11am to 3pm. Normally, I eat dinner before I go in at 5, but then I'm always hungry again when I'm done, and trust me, those breadsticks aren't as good when you see the garlic butter that we slather on them (not saying fazoli's food is bad. on the contrary, it's quite good and moderatley good for you, if you stick with pasta! but the garlic butter is nasty). During my lunch shifts, sometimes I get a break (if my shift is over 4 hours. if it's just 11-3, then I don't get one), and then I go across to the grocery store and buy a fruit bowl and some veggies, sometimes I make a little bowl of pasta and eat that too
, so that's not a problem. But when I don't get a break what should I do? Should I eat dinner before I go to work and then a snack after? Or should I wait and just eat dinner at 9pm? what about the lunches that I don't get a break? Should I eat at 11 before I go in? Normally then I'm not hungry, because I eat breakfast at 8 or 9 in the morning. Or should I just eat a late lunch at 3? I'm so confused!

I have this same problem sometimes, depending on which hours I work.

What I usually do is make sure to eat before I go to work (when it would be over lunchtime or dinnertime), no matter what. Don't force yourself to eat a meal if you're not too hungry, but you'll probably notice over time that you'll be used to eating early lunches or dinners. I find that if I don't eat enough before I go to work, I end up pigging out when I get home and feel sluggish for the rest of the day.

I snack when I can during my work hours, so that would be when you get breaks. I just suggest eating beforehand, even if it's a snack amount to begin, and get on a new eating schedule of early meals before go to work. Maybe a mini-breakfast and mini-lunch could work on those days you go into work during lunch. If it doesn't, try late lunches afterwards. Hope that helps!

I have this problem as well. I either work 11-5 or 5-11...

Today i had to work at 11 so i ate a super early lunch before i went. When i work at night, i normally bring a tupperware with a salad and morningstar chikn strips and grab a bite whenever i have downtime. My boss is really nice and doesnt care if i eat, so its actually not that much of an issue for me.

It's so hard to organize your food schedule for work. You need to be structured and willing to eat healthy every day; if not, your meals become a mess, and you overeat to avoid starving at work. I recently started working remotely, and it completely changed the way I ate and organized my dinners. Now, I'm eating more healthy and structured than ever. The best suggestion I can give you is to create a schedule where you can find those times to prepare dinner every day, as well as spacing your dinners in an organized way :)
