I am creeped out by how little snow there is. Don't get me wrong- little snow means it has been little cold. (okay - so that isn't even close to being grammatically correct, but who's counting?)

It's not been below -7c yet all winter as far as I can tell, and right now we have only the barest remnants of snow- like barely an inch, and many bare spots. This time last year there was enough snow that the piles next to the driveway from the snowblower came up to my neck. Now it barely crunches underfoot.

If there is one thing I dislike more than winter, it is wondering if Mother Nature is sick cause winter hasn't given it her all. Creeps me out. I think, either a) what have we done to the planet, or b) is she really just hiding behind a bush, giggling, waiting to dump a 16 lb load of it on our heads, like a cartoon anvil??

Hear, hear, Avalon...not to mention, discussions of the relative normality of the current weather alwaystriggers my father's speech on how human activity hasn't affected the overall ecosystem of the earth at all and global warrming is an irresponsible scientific myth funded by people who want to believ in it (as proven when it's cold) and the earth has gotten warmer and colder (true) throughout history, so there's no way of proving human activity is at fault and we need to stop having all these ridiculous regulations.

I don't even bother trying to argue that whether or not global warming can be proved, it CAN be proved that many human products adversely and seriously affect the environment and ultimately us. Maybe I should sometime. I suck at arguing with my parents to their faces, though. :::sigh:::

yeah i hate those discussions. a lot of people think global warming is a load of bs but hello? where's the snow?

but then you can argue that it's all cyclical. cause the weathermen always say stuff like "it hasn't been this warm this time of year since 50 years ago" aha! so it has been this warm, before most of the damage was done, and will probably go back to normal? but...what if it doesn't go back to normal? my issue is that cyclical or not we do have an affect and our actions are probably speeding up this cycle, and it's destroying many species of animals because their habitats are messed up and their food is suddenly not there. the water is so warm that fish are dying or moving, planctin is dying bigtime, so the bigger animals that feed on them are dying or moving, which just messes up the whole food chain.

well we sure did get our last minute dumping of snow. followed by an ice storm which luckily happened when nobody had to leave the house and everyone had the next day off. roads out of town were all closed and everything and word has it they were giving out hefty fines to anyone going around the roadblocks. basically the town was snowed in. then iced in. then snowed in again.

so the roads are now a layer of ice covered by a layer of snow, which makes for some great sideways driving

Speaking of GroundHogs, we have a huge one that lives in the woods behind our house. This think looks like a beach ball. I feed it apples and oranges all the time and last year it had a litter of baby....uh uh uh...? what do they call them?? pups? groundhoggies..

Anyway, this ground hog is very independent. We don't bother her and she doesn't bother us. I think they are a neat creature.

Other than that is freaking cold again. We haven't had much snow..only like 5 inches all winter, but the temperatures have been quite nipply. At 4:30 AM tomorrow it will be about 5F, on my way to work, with no freaking heat...must get that fixed, bundled up, trying to scrape the frost, created by my own breath, off the windshield...BLAH and ugh
