I know for me personally cutting dairy out of my diet had a huge effect on my health and overall well being. It's possible I was slightly allergic to it without ever realizing it because when I stopped drinking milk I noticed some stomach issues I was having cleared up, and I felt less phlegmy and had clearer skin.

This link from the PCRM has some good info on health concerns related to dairy: http://www.pcrm.org/health/diets/veg...dairy-products

As for eggs I know they have a lot of cholesterol, and who needs more of that?

health benefits of going vegan:
- avoid all dietary sources of cholesterol
- likely reduce dietary saturated fat intake
- avoid residual hormones and antibiotics that are found in many cow's milk (and their products)
- some people report improvement in physical ailments (clearer skin, more energy, improved sexual function, etc.)
- better bowel movements
- reduce risk of salmonella poisoning (from eggs)
- less risk of food poisoning overall (unless you go raw vegan, then the risk goes up again, but it's still due to contamination from animal sources)
- vegans tend to have lower blood pressure, lower cholesterol, lower triglycerides than vegetarians or nonveg*ns. Vegans also tend to have lower BMIs.(source)

mental health benefits:
- some people report having a clearer head and stronger ability to concentrate
- many people say they have a clearer conscience because being vegan helps them align their values with their habits
- some people report a spiritual awakening or cleansing as a result of going vegan

After transitioning from vegetarian to vegan, my health definitely improved. My skin cleared up, my weight stabilized, and I just generally felt better.
I found a greater sense of well-being, and it brought me more closely aligned with the spiritual side of myself (living the least-harm principle).
