I'm with you, Brandon. I predict Vader all the way, with the Borg a distant second. But I'm wondering who I haven't thought of.<br><br><br><br>
I thought Darth Maul was pretty cool; it was too bad he made his exit so early.<br><br><br><br>
I'd also give honorable mention to Elle Driver if only she were SF. Hmm, maybe we need a separate poll for best action villains. "I've always liked that word, "gargantuan"... I so rarely have the opportunity to use it in a sentence."

The Wraith from Stargate Atlantis. Yes, they've only been around for a couple of years but I find them really creepy, yet fascinating.

Oh, I also think the Eika from Kate Elliot's Crown of Stars series are awesome villains. I dunno if they're cooler than Darth Vader, though. Unlikely.

Sorry. I wanted Q, in fact it was an episode of Voyager featuring Q that gave rise to this poll. It was originally going to be a poll of Star Trek villains, and believe me, Q coulda been a contender, but when it became a list of villains throughout the SF world, the list of Star Trek candidates had to be cut down. Maybe I was wrong to choose the Klingons over Q, but I thought the old school fans would vote for them. I guess I thought I was alone in my love for Q...<br><br><br><br>
And I'm also very sad that we just this moment remembered the Vogons...<br><br><br><br>

I was actually coming here now to mention the Vogons. I'm watching that movie right now.<br><br><br><br>
I also wanted to mention the Romulans! My favorite underplayed Trek villains! The Romulans always got the short end of the stick. You never saw a good plot with them hardly, just a ship every once in a while with dead Romulans or a token Romulan or two.</span>

I think the Shadows from Babylon 5 were the coolest villains because they help show up the facist methods being used today in our own society.<br><br><br><br>
Although the antithesis of cool, the Vogons from Hitchhiker's Guide are the most evil because they do so through a cold, heartless beaurocracy.

Wasn't it more president Clark's forces that used the fascist methods (through spying on people etc.), and the Shadows were rather representatives of social darwinism or something like that? The Shadows were cool though.

Speaking of Bab5, I think emperor Cartagia was more evil than the Shadows. The Shadows even had some (evolutionary) rationalization for what they did, but Cartagia was nothing but pure sadism.

I'm a major fan of Frank Herbert, so I'm tempted to vote for Baron Harkonnen, just for the sheer brilliance of Dune, but on the other hand, Darth Vader comes off as a more standard villainy type figure. And he's cooler. Aaargh.... ok, Darth it is.

I'm not sure, I know that Clark's forces were in contact with the Shadows. Goodness knows we have enough examples of facism from history to be able to have people implement it again without alien intervention. I'm wondering however how much influence the Shadows had on Clark's strategies. I don't remember any sort of in depth explanation of how much of Clark's power came from contact with the Shadows.

My first impulse was to vote for Darth Vader, being my favorite, but I voted for Barron Harrkonnen. Mainly because there was not a decent bone in that man's body whereas Vader did redeem himself.

I always thought Beast Wars never got the recognition it deserved. It was a good show, good enough to download off bit torrent, anyways <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/grin.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title=""><br><br>

The daleks were good for their time. But they just don't scream super villain in the new series, in fact, all they do is scream. Neither do the cybermen. I think the Doctor needs to find a decent new villain in the 3 season, not that I don't thoroughly enjoy the farting <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/moonpie.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title=":moonpie:"><br><br><br><br>
I always liked the replicators from Star Gate. Followed closely by the borg. Both were a force to be reckoned with.<br><br>
