I might just cancel the DVD part of the service; I rarely use it.

I don't have netflix but this doesn't surprise me. It was only a matter of time before this happened. It sucks and I hope enough people cancel their subscription or complain to make them reconsider this.

I am pretty annoyed I heard about it on Yahoo news. I have been a customer for YEARS and I haven't even been notified by Netflix about the changes. I may call them and give them hell for it.... I will downgrade to streaming only and save a few bucks I suppose. Now I don't have to buy a new DVD player.....

I will probably get one. I can't see them not notifying me. I have been a member since 2004 for god's sake.

Yea I wasn't too happy when I got that email today either. I already downgraded; I really don't watch the DVDs anyway. They usually sit on my bar for a month or so.

WTF??? They already raised their prices recently!!! I don't even watch the streaming!!!

Blockbuster is easier if there's a store near you, plus they include video games as a dvd rental.

Then you'll be saving money like me. Well, assuming you have the same plan as I do.

Yes, wasn't that email lovely? Don't do anything and we will charge you more! Yea!!

Ugh. I can't decide if I will cancel the dvd plan or not. I mostly watch streaming, but it is nice to be able to get newer movies on dvd.

I'm a penny pincher, so I'll probably cancel the dvd service.

I'm also annoyed. I like the DVD service because it has almost any obscure movie you could want, but I don't use it as often. I'll be cancelling that part of my membership, which means that Netflix will be getting less money from me. Right now I pay $9.99 for 1 DVD at a time and unlimited streaming. For just the unlimited streaming, I'll pay $7.99

Those obscure movies might go away.
Way back, Netflix invested all their money in DVDs.
They experimented with Streaming for a while.
When they did the last price increase, it was explained that more money would be invested in getting more streaming licenses, increasing the number of things people could stream.

BUT!!!!!!!!
When they did this part of my queue vanished. It no longer told me how long my wait was. Available? Short wait? Long wait?
DVDs were almost always available, and I think they didn't want me to notice a lowering of overall availability of DVDs.

I run a Blockbuster mail subscription and a Netflix subscription side by side, because at once time I only had Netflix w/ a 3-DVD plan. I wanted to increase to a 6-DVD plan. But, a 6-DVD plan with Netflix was more expensive per DVD than having a 3-DVD plan with Netflix plus a 3-DVD plan with Blockbuster.

Having the plans side by side for a long time... I've really gotten to like Blockbuster better.
