Every time I've had whole wheat pasta, I couldn't tell the difference. I may as well have been eating "regular" pasta. The brand that I have in my cupboard now is President's Choice, and I have some bags of ww pasta from The Bulk Barn.

Trader Joe's brand is good (and very affordable), if you've got one of those around.

In my experience, if you cook whole wheat pasta longer it eventually tastes/feels like white pasta.

Dominicks (Safeway) sells Organics brand whole wheat pasta that is delicious. I've only had the spaghetti though. It doesn't taste the same as white pasta, it tastes better. Toss it with some EB and steamed broccoli and I'm in heaven.

I used to hate whloe wheat pasta, whoever said it above said it right, it tastes just like gorcery bags. ANyway I finally found one I like called DeCecco, get it at Whole Foods, it is nice and tender like the white stuff I am used to. Also I love BArilla Plus too, it made of beans and flax seeds so it is high in fiber and protein too.

I found that to be the case as well, when I make whole wheat pasta I combine it 50/50 with regular pasta, it tastes really good.

Does boiling cause whole grain pasta to release it's nutrients? I notice the water will be brown and the pasta almost white.

Whoever he is, he has a tendency to be incredibly truthy like that.

Quote:

I don't know if boiling makes it lose nutrients, but I don' really see a way around that, at least not without copious amounts of chewing. And it's still bound to have more nutrition and fiber than crappy white pasta.

You could always drink the water. But I wouldn't.

hi Eden Foods is fabulous. http://www.edenfoods.com/

check out their website to learn more about them. They appear to be very serious about quality and avoiding GMOs. They're not publicly-owned (stock market), so they're able to do what they value.

They have organic pasta too.

I worked at a Health Food store and got to try a few different brands, and eden was the one i liked most... and respected their company policies the most of too.
