I couldn't read the telephone number, in small print, that I needed to call, so I went looking for my glasses. I looked all over, for about a 1/2 hour, until I finally realized where they were: I was wearing them.
Of course, nobody has pointed out that not only does this little anecdote indicate that i suffer from forgetfulness, but it also, perhaps just a tad more subtly, indicates that I suffer from worsening of how bad my vision is. <i>I thought that i wasn't wearing my glasses, because something that I normally would not be too small for me to see, if I were wearing my glasses -- was now too small for me to see.</i> Yet I <i>was</i> wearing my glasses.
My uncle, the one who designed and supervised the construction of nuclear reactors, once spent about 20 minutes looking for his little daugher, while carrying her around with him throughout the hunt, and while asking her if she knew where she was, and she repeatedly answered, giggling, "no, daddy, I don't no where Suzy is."<br><br><br><br>
He was really looking for her, so he could pick her up and bring her home; she thought he was playing some kind of silly game.
I don't think we commented on your vision because you're sharp enough to realize that on your own. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/smiley.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="">
I try not to think about worsening vision! My eyesight already sucks. My students have gotten really confused the couple times my contacts started bugging me while I was teaching. They were like "huh? you have what in your eye?"
