Something me & my bf were talking about got me thinking about my favorite Christmas memory... so I was wondering what all of yours are? (or holiday in general memory)

Mine was in 1992, my aunt & uncle got me The Simpsons X-mas book for Christmas... me, my bro & dad were staying at my grandma's and I got sick so to make me feel better my brother read me the book and did the character voices for me. Doesn't sound like much, but my bro never did stuff like that for me back then & I remember it so vividly. So, that's mine. Can't wait to hear all of yours!

When I was seven years old on xmas eve I woke up in my bed just as my Dad was sneaking my presents into my bedroom. When I saw that Santa was actually my dad, I quickly closed my eyes and pretended to be asleep. When he left the room, instead of feeling disappointment, I almost had a sense of relief because in my own child-like way, I bloody well knew there were some inconsistencies in that whole Santa story and now I'd finally got to the bottom of it!

Hmm... Staying in my PJs till noon. Eating a fancy breakfast off the good china. Driving to my grandparents' house in a blizzard, or what felt like one when I was 6. Sitting around at my grandparents' house, playing the new board games we'd gotten. Laughing at my aunt's handwriting in Boggle. Carefully opening the silverware drawer in the kitchen because it has a tendency of falling out. Playing with the musical moose and the dollhouse in the attic. Driving back through the snow belt, glad I wasn't driving and could just admire the huge piles of snow.

I was around six years old. Growing up, my mom had a lot of health problems and was in the hospital more times that I can count. This particular Christmas Eve, my mom had been the hospital a few weeks. My dad told my sister and I to sit on the couch because he had special surprise for us. We thought we were going to get some kind of 'gift' to open. Instead my mom walked in the door and was able to spend Christmas with us before going back to the hospital.

Another time was when I asked for a parakeet. I woke up Christmas morning, saw the beautiful little thing by the tree and was so happy and excited that I started screaming like a maniac. My poor parents came running because they thought the bird had died by the way I was carrying on. I don't know why, but for some reason I didn't really believe I was going to get the parakeet.

Favourite xmas memory for me is when I first emigrated to Australia from England and I got the chance to experience what xmas was like in the middle of summer. Wicked

I remember sitting on the beach thinking about how it all seemed like paradise compared to the cold and dreariness of the English winter.

My mom used to make cookies out the wahzoo. She made so many different kinds and they were all my favorite. The house smelled wonderful for two weeks before Christmas. My dad came over and spent a few days with us the last 5 or so years. Those memories are cherished now.

I remember a Christmas back when my grandparents were still together and my dad was still alive. All the aunts and uncles, along with all my cousins, gathered at Gramp and Gram's house. Grandma had decorated a huge tree all in red with white doves... it was gorgeous! We had a huge dinner and grasshoppers. Later that night we all put on our coats and walked through the snow to the little church in town for midnight mass. Grandpa stayed behind to "talk to Santa." When we came home after mass the whole living room and into the dining room was full of presents. Not only had "Santa" spoiled the whole lot of us, but the grandparents sprung for brand new bikes for each and every kid... 18 of us at the time. Us kids stayed up until dawn playing with our new toys and eating leftovers, candy and Christmas cookies.

I miss those days...

Last year, i went down to Louisiana to celebrate Christmas with my cousins. Christmas Eve, we all went outside, ran around, watched fireworks that the neighbors were setting off, and then we laid down on the driveway and spend hours watching the night sky for meteors. This was my favorite memory because it felt so peaceful.
