I've been relying on mostly soy and peanuts to get protein. I despise beans (it's a texture thing) and am trying to find ways to fill my protein needs.<br><br>
Also, how much protein does the average person need?

Seitan, boca vegan burgers, quinoa, or the protein powder made by PlantFusion (Vanilla Bean) are my favorites. Protein needs vary based on gender, weight, and age but are around 40-70 g give or take.<br><br>

Cashews! Almonds! I particularly love almond butter in place of peanut butter, and you can make it yourself (if you feel like it).<br>

vegetables, fruit, grains, seeds, nuts, and beans.<br><br>
there are ways to eat beans that don't feel like bean texture at all, also there are a lot of different kinds of beans that taste very different, what kinds have you tried?<br><br>
some recipes that 'disguise' beans are hummus, bean dip, falafel, bean burgers

quinoa!! It's a super food, and complete protein. I like chickpeas, but I like them best in the form of hummus. You usually get more than enough protein already if you vary your diet, i.e. nuts, seeds, legumes, greens (greens have decent amounts of protein, albeit you have to eat more of them to get a significant amount). Protein isn't an issue. If you're a bodybuilder or going for weight gain, google vegan bodybuilding, there are plenty of meal plans that will give you plenty of needed protein.

Tofu, seitan, chickpeas and chickpea dips, split pea soup, lentil soup, whole grains including quinoa, soy and almond milks, and of course, beans. Here's a partially eaten faux boy (blackened seitan) sandwich with tofu 'wings' in the back smothered in a spicy sauce that I ate from a local restaurant. I also like making balsamic glazed tofu over rice or also in a sandwich. There's a lot to do with different foods if you search for recipes and experiment.<br><br>
(Yes, that is vegan ranch dressing that came with the tots and fries. Om nom nom!)

Yes but we're listing our favorites and while I know it's possible to get all the protein you need from leafy greens and such, we're also listing more concentrated forms of protein to make it easier for a new veg*n. If they want to incorporate more raw foods into their diet then by all means, get advice on that and good luck to them.

Seitan and chickpeas! Seitan's more of a treat, because the closest store that has it is two hours away from us, but we eat chickpeas like they're going out of style. LOVE them roasted in the oven with cayenne pepper, yum!!

I like fake meats, just because they're easy to make quickly. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/smiley.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title=":)"> But I get most of protein from different beans. I love all beans, and I love making beans. My favorite bean dish is lentil soup.

I love seitan! the recipe from Vegan Diner is incredible!<br>
I love chickpeas! Hummus, or just in soups, salads etc<br>
And lately i have been making lots of green smoothies <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/popcorn.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Popcorn">

Lentils - I especially like spiced lentil tacos.<br><br>
I also love chickpeas. I throw them on salads, make mashed "chickpea salad" (same idea as tuna salad), make kale and chickpea soup with vegetables, roast them in the oven with oil and salt...and I eat hummus like it's my job, on all kinds of vegetables, pita bread, tortilla chips, multi-grain crackers.<br><br>
Whole grains are another favorite protein of mine. The whole wheat pasta I use has either seven or eight grams of protein per serving (and I always eat more than one serving!)
