My husband is trying to tell me that most vitamins are made with some sort of plastic to hold the fiber together or just have plastic in them in general. Anybody know if this is true or not?

Plastic is a good source of fiber.

Something that is not on the ingredients? A lot of them have lactose (I think) as a filler. I don't see how plastic would bind. I'd think plastic would just come out the other end anyhow. Ask him how he knows this.

Tablets are typically held together with cellulose (plant fiber), lactose (as Thalia mentioned), or stearates. I've never heard of plastic being used in a tablet or a capsule.

I know some spices use SILICON DIOXIDE as a free flowing agent . My first impression upon reading this ingrediant was that the are putting plastic in my spices(Silicon made me think of implants hense the plastic connection). I have since found out that it is merely a form of sand. That's my best guess as to what you are refering to.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silicon_dioxide
