I think 55 is what's required for my weight. Isn't too much protein supposed to be bad for you? I'll stick with the same routine and 60 some odd grams a day as I've already had good results with that
I always eat something light (half of rice protein bar or maybe a banana) before I work out. If I don't eat I feel light-headed. My work out normally consists of 60 min of cardio (running, elliptical, or spinning) and 15-30 min of strength training. I also drink a water/glucose drink mix during my work out. I eat breakfast after I work out also which is normally oatmeal or a protein smoothie/ drink.

I apologize in advance if this was already mentioned have you tried HIIT? Its great for weight loss. As for food prior to a work out its entirely up to how you feel and the intensity of the workout. I spilt my workouts into AM and PM so I eat before them and some stuff Ive found to be agreeable and other stuff not so much. I like oatmeal, PB, a handful of nuts, a banana before hand. Afterwards I like to make a smoothie with vega or different vegan protein powders like hemp, pea and rice. I use protein recovery drinks because my workouts are intense and I have found it to reduce muscle soreness.
So am I the only one who likes a quick snack during his workout? :X
In my defense: My mother is diabetic and I seem to be somewhat hypoglycemic. An orange or three sets me straight and keeps me going. I'm also 235lbs and tend to work out for two hours at a time...
Dates and bananas would probably be your best choice pre workout. Raw food will be digested quicker and be utilised faster than other foodstuffs. You could also eat the same after the workout, if you feel hungry enough. Then eat a higher protein meal within about an hour of ending your workout.
i am sick of not being able to exercise. i use to love my early morning work outs. i find that drinking energade or powerade mixed with water help me with cardio work outs. its an energy drink.
i really need to get my butt back into exercise.
there is a yoga class friday and saturday mornings which I want to do to flex and stretch my muscles.
then in the week orbitrek and treadmil and cycle and rowing machine.
ps i want to exercise to just be fit and healthy and keep it up, i find that i get fitter and then can't keep it up due to not eating right or not eating enough.
About 57g of protein per day should be enough for you, Kasandra.
As I believe that the protein requirements for an active person are between 1.2-1.8 per kilo. I base my own protein intake on these recommendations. Although some sources do put this figure slightly higher.
I did eat about 3g per kilo, back in the mid 1990s, but I did not have any noticeable effects, in terms of my physique and strength.
