It seemed like a waste to throw out these nice glass pickle jars. I've dutifully washed and saved them. I've already got a jar for loose change that's not anywhere near full. Now I've got about 7 clean pickle or salsa jars and nothing to do with them. Seems like a waste to throw them out. There's no recycling service where I live.

Ideas?

Paint a face on each of those jars. Then you can create a historical drama for your own entertainment, where they represent successive kings in a royal family in an alternate-universe Britain back in 1300. You have Jar the First, who had a good economic policy but was a weak ruler overall, and his successor Jar II, who was loved by his people but had too many scandalous relationships, and then Jar III, who was murdered and dethroned by his own son, Jar IV. By the time of Jar V, Britain was involved in lots of religious wars which Jar V didn't really know how to settle. The legacy he left for Jar VI was even worse in that respect: there was an open, religiously inspired civil war and then a revolution, after which Jar VI was killed by his own people, and Britain stopped being a monarchy. Jar VII had, however, been born before Jar VI died, but since there was no role for the king anymore, Jar VII lived a quiet life in the countryside, once in a while dressing as a scarecrow to scare the living **** out of the townfolk.

I use stuff like that in my garage for things such as nails, screws, shrunken heads, etc.

This works best.

Or you could paint them up and make them look nice, use them to store sweets/small gifts and give them to people you don't know too well as presents?

Urine is sterile so... wouldn't that actually reduce the illness aspect but increase the smell aspect?

Do you have a school near you? A lot of teachers use jars in art / lab classes instead of store-bought glassware. They might appreciate the donation. I recently gave a lot of mason jars to a local primary school.

As a bodily fluid, it can be bad news as some people have urine with blood mixed in. Plus, it is only sterile when in the body. It changes once outside.

Well the first bit is true enough, but I don't know about the second bit... I've never seen or heard anything other than urine is a sterile substance, with mild irritation being the worst it can do :/

From what i've read, once urine is outside of the body, it's temp. starts to fall, obviously. within 6-8 hours, it starts to grow bacteria which also makes sense. I used to do many ua's and the samples needed to be refrigerated relatively quickly for accuracy.

Ah... I sorta expected that the jars would be thrown immediately, before that could happen... Like, throw a jar after using it, rather than saving up for a concentrated assault.
