A spin-off of the recent retro-music posts and the music recommendations to tell us all how great the new White Stripes album is, and so on.

A few new CDs that I want to steal:

Múm - Finally We Are No One (ambient, but agreeable)

Lucinda Williams - World Without Tears (roots/folk/country, but intelligent)

Massive Attack - 100th Window (Duh, Massive Attack)

New Digweed compilation, too, but I don't know about him by himself (without Sasha) right J-Funk?

A variety of things keep bringing the Carter Family to my attention including news of a Mellencamp protest song set to a tune they recorded. The Carter family were one of the first recorded country acts in the 1920s.

1Vegan... I personally found Pyromania to be a better album. But really... both albums sound nearly identical. High'n'Dry (I think that was the name) may be the better choice.

I'm not hearing great things, but always be the ultimate decision maker and your own your own umm... music-picker-outer...

Try "Good Humor" by Saint Etienne - not new, but great. And of course, the new Massive Attack is probably a no-brainer. In case you're into rap/hip-hop, Ms. Dynamite is also probably a winner.

I quite like Ms Dynamite. I don't usually like that sort of stuff, but she seems kinda different from the other rap/hip-hop kinda gumpf I've heard.

Woo Ms. Dynamite rocks. Actually I remember hearing her MC for a lot of Garage and Two Step. I'll see if I can find which songs and I'll post a link up here I was really surprised to see her come out with a solo cd.

Have you picked that one up yet? I think it's pretty mediocre compared to Mezzanine. Technically, it's not even really a Massive Attack album considering the only member that did anything on it was 3D.

I listened to part of the Ms. Dynomite cd - not real sold on it. Any tracks you like in particular?

It might be that I'm just not into chick rappers that much.

This is my next purchase:

http://www.down-south.com/albums/Dir...&Gangsta.shtml

That's Dirty and My Cadillac are both pretty good. Yeah, I like the loud mof, big talkin' hip hop.
