Finally heard back from my doctor's office today (I called to double-check mine). My cholesterol's even lower than I thought: 112. That was as of October, 2002, after I'd been vegan only 6 months. it's been another six months now, so I wonder if it's gotten any lower.
I remember in October when he told me, I said "Wow. That must be the vegan lifestyle," He said not necessarily, and that it could be genetic predisposition, but I know it was closer to 160 or so a few years ago. So, yeah, I've always had fairly low cholesterol, considering my diet, but I'm pretty sure vegan eating knocked off another 50 points (or nearly 1/3!).
He seemed pleased by the number and not concerned, and didn't even seem concerned about the vegan eating. So, DeeYahMK, you may want to get a new doctor, if for no other reason than to make sure you're getting an accurate reading!
