What is it with loud music

Ok, this is a vent: 
Is it just me or is anyone else get irritated by neighbors who play their music or TVs really loud or those annoying 'boom-boom' cars where the bass is so loud that you feel your house shake? 
I don't understand why people need to crank these things up so loud. 
And for some reason when you go and ask them to turn it out and they look at you like you are in the wrong..which I don't believe is true! 
And most of the the time they DON'T turn it down! Grrrr.... 
I am always trying to be polite by keeping mine down. I even use headphones with my TV. I am getting to the point where I am just gonna blast mine too...

I admit that I blare my music to levels loud enough to shake my vehicle [at leats when I had one] and my cousin does it too. I tent to do it to drown the screaming in my mind. 
I've had drama and mental issues for as long as I can remember, so I'll turn up my music as loud as it goes to make everything else go away and I'll just get enveloped in the music.

Loud here too. But not to the point of causing vibration. I like it when I have my headset on. Then I can make it as loud as I want without bothering anyone else.

Being hearing impaired, I sometimes have to turn it up louder than usual. Most of the time, though, I have it at a 'normal' setting when I'm on the computer and have my iTunes playing. 
With the stereo, I sometimes turn it up louder because the house is on concrete so it doesn't vibrate and carry out the sound. 
As far as others doing it: I just feel bad for most of them, especially if they are playing it loud while wearing headphones. There's just going to be more and more people with hearing loss and ear drum damage.

I actually have hearing loss myself too which is why this concerns me... 
If their music/TV sounds loud to me when I don't have my hearing aids in - than how loud is it really? I think that most people aren't going to be able to hear at all in a couple years (esp those cars and big screen TVs!) 
This is why I wear my TV headphones..because I know that i would have to turn the volume up louder to hear it and it would be very loud to the person who lives below me which wouldn't be fair to them. Maybe I am too nice. 
I live in an apartment with wood floors and only have one person below me but I can hear her music and my furniture vibrates. I just don't get why it needs to be that loud (unless they have lost some of their hearing too and just don't know it yet)..esp when their are lovely chirping birds to listen to right outside the window. 
I don't mind being able to hear it a little bit but I don't think my furniture should be vibrating.

I love loud music, it's no biggy at home (have no neighbors) and when I listen to it loud in my car, I never "bump" it (not like my stereo could bump anyways...) and if my windows are down, i turn it down a bit at stop lights/situations where others may be bothered by it.

Yes, yes, yes and YES. I hate loud music, especially when it's 2 in the morning and I have to go to work at 7. 
I live in an apartment building in a college-student infested area right off of campus. Parties everywhere. You'd think it'd be quieter in the summer, but noooo... <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/no.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title=":no:"> Luckily, there's a "quiet rule" in my building's lease. But there's an apartment building next to us that doesn't seem to have that same rule. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/laugh.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title=":lol:">

I do...I dont often get complaints anymore because I've stopped playing music loud, or at times that would inconvenience other people, but I always apologize and turn it down if a neighbour comes over to complain. I can't see the point in being a d*** about it. 
I know that the music I listen to (doof) is annoying to people who aren't into it because of the repetative 'thud thud' noise that the kickdrum makes, so I'm willing to be a bit understanding about it. 
But what pisses me off a little is the fact that me and my partner have had to compromise our lifestyle to suit our neighbours, but we still have to put up with THEIR noises. Because we dont live their 9-5 lifestyle, we're often disturbed from our sleep in the early morning by neighbours starting their cars up to go to work, dragging their garbage bins over the concrete driveway, and the noise from power tools and lawnmowers etc on a Sunday morning <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/sick.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="

There is nothing worse than inconsideration. My bf used to live next door to some people who used to play really loud and really bad music all the time and in the end his Dad (who he was still living with then) turned on the lawnmower and positioned it right by the fence next to their house.

I like loud music for driving, but it's not like I have 20-inch subs in my trunk and you can only turn it up so loud on a 15-year-old stock stereo before it just sounds like a bunch of booming static or you blow it out... so no, my car music does not create that infernal sonic boom when I drive by. With the windows up, you can only really hear the music if you're standing right next to my car... but anyone who gets that close to my car without my permission is gonna get run over anyway <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/smiley.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="

Loud TVs on the other hand, I cannot tolerate.. whether I'm in the same room with it or whether it's someone else's. There's just something about a loud TV that puts my ears in absolute agony. It's just... piercing. It's weird, because I can go to a show and stand right next to the moniter and be fine, but loud TVs just do something to my brain that makes me want to hurt people... I don't know if it's because they are different sound qualities or what. Movie theatres are a little difficult for me, too...

I don't like excessively loud noise, either. My ears are sensitive and prolonged loud noise actually makes my head and jaw ache. 
My mother likes to blare the TV and when I was living at home I was always turning it down. The problem was really bad in college. I was being kept up until 4 AM or later every night by people in my hall who blasted their TVs and stereos. I love music but forcing everyone around you to listen to what you're listening to is inconsiderate IMO.

I have terrible headaches. mainly at night. and thats when the townsfolk like to drive around with their bass pumping. Its very irritating. sometimes it's loud enough to shake windows and it's every night.<img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/furious.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title=":furious:">
