I blame the parents of those kids. They raised them to feel so entitled.

I believe this to be true. I've seen more materialism in families that have very little stability than in families that are stable and/or financially secure.
I've noticed in myself that I tend to become more materialistic if life circumstances are unstable and I have little control over my situation. I become less materialistic when I feel safe and the future looks promising.

I didn't get what I wanted for the holidays either.

Granted, I wanted world peace, fundamental justice for all, cures for all fatal diseases, for everyone in the world to become a vegetarian, and people to stop being @ssholes - but you'd think I'd get ONE of these things. HARRUMPH.

Well, yeah, I cried for hours and yelled at my mom when I didn't get an iphone, but I didn't go posting it on facebook.

I can't believe how many people wanted and/or got cars for Christmas. My parents would have laughed in my face had I ever asked them for a car, even if they did have the money to buy me one. They did however allow me to buy one of their hand-me-down vehicles for a good price, complete with loan payment schedule and interest.

I got an iPhone but it was the last thing I opened, and I didn't even realize it was there, nor was I ready to throw a fit because I didn't get one.

In fact, this Christmas I seemed to feel like I was getting too many presents, and feeling truly grateful that I actually had these presents and in such amount, as opposed to the present-hungry attitude I had as a little kid. I suppose this is a side-effect of growing up, though.

i am a lucky person here my parents want to give me an iphone for christmas am going to select one tomorrow with my dad

car? yeah i am amazed that people would expoect cars from their parents for christmas

it is because it seems like people give way too many presents for their kids. like o some sites i post whe we were tellig each other what wer got for christmas some posters who are parents also listed what their children got and those were huge lists like about 20 items. and i was like, are you ****ing kidding me? when i was a kid i got 1 -3 presents from Santa (how would he even be ablew to transport it all in his sleigh if it is such an amount). and this people were like reasonable people so i can imagine what kind of presents the nutty families give to their kids. and then of course they expect a car

My mom would never get me an iPhone, that's crazy. She made me buy mine myself and pay for the taxes. I ended up not being able to put twenty cents of the taxes on my iPhone at first, because all the other money i had saved was put in my college account that she wont let me withdraw from, and i miscalculated by 20 cents, so I had to wait until I could save up that 20 cents to buy it myself It feels good buying things yourself, my mom has always made me buy things like that myself

I'm 32 years old and I wouldn't even buy an iPhone for myself, let alone for my daughter for Christmas. She's currently using my old cell phone and is perfectly happy with it. The last phone she used, she saved up for it and bought it herself. Although I admit to paying for the service, a lot of adults I know, including some that post here, have their cell phone bill paid by their parents, so I refuse to feel bad about that. At least it's not an iPhone plan!

With this attitude, they shouldn't even get presents.

Wow, if those were real posts, these kids should be ashamed. wtf is wrong with them. You want an iphone that bad? Get a Fing job! 4s with a contract is at $150, a laughable price with today's inflation.
