Hi. I'm turning 3 on Thursday! (that is, a three year old vegetarian, 2 1/2 year old vegan). So this is for every veggie out there... what do you do/plan to do for your veggie anniversaries?

Each year, I've bout myself 1 new cook book, this year I bought myself one vegetarian cookbook (I would have gotten vegan, but the vegetarian one was discounted) and one raw food "cook" book. The first year, I also made myself a cake. This year, I hopefully will go to Disney and/or out to eat at my favorite veg restraunt in Florida! Yay!

Is it lame that I bought myself something? Be honost, I'm interested in knowing what you do/will do on your anniversaries (if anything).

I think it's pretty cool to buy yourself presents like that.

I haven't celebrated any of my veggieversaries, because I don't know when they are. I tend to post my montly veganniversaries in the slut thread and annoy the other sluts because I'm just so damn proud

at one year, assuming I get there, I think I will buy myself something cool like cookies from the internet or something

I don't think that's lame at all! I think it's kinda cool, actually.

My one-year veganversary is coming up in March. My one-year veggieversary was in November, but I didn't do anything really special. I'd rather celebrate my vegan anniversary, anyway. On that day, I'll probably make myself a congrats card and an origami flower. (I'm cheap.)

I'm cheap to. I usually only buy neads (and a few wants, like extra food that I could live without, but most of my wants are food), that's why it's nice to get some new books (notice, one of them was on sale, both of them came out to only $20 when combined )

I pat myself on the back and do my taxes. (My vegeversary is in the middle of April.)

I forgot about my (2 year) veggieversary this year. Next year I'll probably forget again. But if I remember, I'll steal your idea and buy myself a cookbook!

Oh yes. Actually, I usually have my taxes done before April. Only once was I driving to the post office at 7 p.m. on April 15...

But, I don't find being a vegetarian particularly "taxing".

We go out to dinner! So lucky that you are near disney! Have you eaten at Boma? My husband and I love it. :) We told the chef we were vegetarian and wanted a little something extra for protein and he made us THIS, even though its a buffet (he made a special dish for us 4 vegetarians, hehe):

http://img256.imageshack.us/img256/2167/cimg0562np2.jpg

It was tofu kabobs with an amazing BBQ sauce, made from some awesome citrusy fruit....

That looks great! I love Disney... I don't live here, but my dad does, and he's a Disney fan as well (I don't like the tv shows, but I do love the theme park) so he's gonna take me. I prefer to go to EPCOT, but havn't been to MGM before. I wish that Sea World was animal friendly, I've always wanted to go their, but alas...

I haven't had a vegan anniversary yet, but for my vegetarian ones, I would treat myself and a friend to dirty martinis with extra olives. (That's my most favorite drink in the world). I used to drink as many martinis as my veggie years, but now it's been already six years so probably not a good idea...

Congrats

Jennifer - that's a great idea! I've got to start doing that. I could definitely use an excuse to buy a new cookbook! Or on a larger scale, a new cooking apperatus, like a juicer or something. hmmmm...

I wish I knew when my veggiversaries were. I know I went vegetarian in June 2003 - but I don't know the day. Then I had a bout of fish-eating that occured during my last pregnancy and I don't remember the day I decided to stop eating fish. I just noticed I hadn't eaten it in a few months and realized I was done with it.

I'm back to vegan now but the transition has been a gradual one - first phasing out all non-vegan foods from my home, then phasing out non-vegan eating at other people's homes, etc. I did eat some slightly non-vegan items at Christmas (i.e pie and cookies), so perhaps I will make a 100% vegan vow on January 1st. Shouldn't have any trouble remembering that date.

I don't really celebrate because I don't know exactly when my anniversaries are. But I do have a rough idea... in Sept. it was four years as a vegetarian, and right around now marks two years as a vegan!

You could say I celebrate every day... every meal I make is pretty involved.

For all of those who don't know "the day," I feel ya'. I only know the day when I cut meat out, but the day when I went vegan is debatable. So, I celebrate my lacto-ovo vegetarian day, because if I had never had that day, I probally would have never have gone vegan.

TOMOROW IS MY "BIRTHDAY"!!! I'll turn 3! I'm really exited, I hope that the day turns out to be just as good as I'm hoping it will (which is partailly up to the nurcing home that my dad works at, as he may get called in)

i only know my veganiversary because it's on my birthday. When it comes in less than 6 months, i'm going to cook myself a feast of things i'm usually too lazy to make.

Congrats! It's great that you have some supportive friends, even if they do eat meat.

I don't remember when I turned vegetarian. I don't even remember what month. I just know that I was 16.

Assuming I ever go vegan, or consider myself vegan, I probably won't remember when that was, either. I don't buy anything nonvegan now, but I do have some things that aren't vegan that I'm replacing with vegan stuff as I finish it (i.e. hair products with hydrolyzed silk, mascara with beeswax, etc.) So I don't even know when/if I would ever consider myself vegan & if I did decide to call myself vegan sometime in the future, I have no idea when it started.
