I'd like to keep this thread simple, if possible...

There are a lot of us on these boards regularly, and we all have goals, ideas, and projects.

We can use our skills and knowledge together, share what we know, share our goals with each other...we can have a network of resources, if we're willing to begin teaching each other what we know.

So, on this thread, I'd like you (if you're willing) to post your line of work, subjects you are educated and informed on, and maybe a brief idea of what sort of help you may be looking for.

But let's not clutter this thread with conversation, we can start seperate ones for that. This can be a simple index of what we know, where we don't need to pick out relevant information from all the posts, you know?

Here's me:

I am a trained Chef, and am focusing on organics, industrial agriculture, and the harm/benefits of genetic modification.

I hope to return to school soon, to get a degree in environmental sciences and land resources.

I know a bit about photography, and all sort of things about the restaurant industry, and would like to inform America about our food supply, as nobody has any idea what they're eating.

I would also like to get involved with children, to teach them about the environment at a young age, and hopefully spawn some new interests in the environmental, agricultural, and culinary fields.

Feel free to email me about whatever you like!

*One other thing: If anyone has anything they would like to present or address in person, the gathering in Atlanta would be an excellent place to do it. We'll be a small, open-minded croud, and anyone with an idea would be welcome to give us a presentation, and we'd be happy to offer opinions.

My past: I was an English and Religion double major, so I know a thing or two in those areas. I used to do a lot of new testament interpretation and the relationship betw. Jesus & Judaism. After college I worked in executive recruiting for a while so I know about the job market, resumes, interviews, etc. And then I worked in advertising as an account exec for a couple years so I know a little about marketing and advertising (mostly in the healthcare and biotech industries.)

My present: I work in a spa in guest services so I know a lot about dealing with people who are big pains in the @$$!!!! LOL. Just kidding. (Sort of) I have above average knowledge when it comes to skincare, haircare, & nailcare because of my job, also familiar with the latest beauty & wellness trends.

My future: I hope to soon become knowledgable in the domestic sphere -- motherhood! All in good time.

I studied psychology and some neuroscience in college. I used to be pretty knowledgable about the drug war, but all my info is out of date now.

I work in social science type research, so I have some knowledge of basic stats, SPSS and literature searching. I could guide someone to databases and such if you have a project and need articles.

Like MOP, I used to work in a restaurant, as a waitress for about 2 years. So I can tell you a lot about how to get good service, and a lot about the RedLobster menu and food, but that won't help anyone here.

I currently study bioethics. I am not an expert, but I can point people in the general direction for questions on DNR's, patient rights, (and much more) Or I can ask a professor. If you are trying to decide if someone is dead, I had to write a pretty involved definition of the definition of death.

My friends think I have a knack for thinking of diplomatic ways of saying things that could be confrontational. So if you need to ask your angry bosss a touchy question, I may be able to help.

And perhaps my most useful skill, I can recommend good restaurants in Cleveland.

I'm still a youngin, but i'd say, since my major is env. studies/wildnerness leadership and used to be Forestry, i have a pretty good knowledge about land resource/wildland management/the nat'l forest and park system, as well as the BLM stuff, exotic/invasive species..the list goes on.

i also, depsite my age, think i'm well cultured and well traveled and blah blah blah. writing/editing is also a forte of mine (even though i know i do not demonstrate that on the internet, heh). i also have learned to be a very good judge of character and have good people skills. i have a feel for people and who they really are...also, luckily i don't suffer from any mental disorders, but i have some significant knowledge in them.

at this point i'm thinking about doing the grad school thing with a fisheries sciences (which translates to marine conservation, actually) degree. perhaps something psy. related though. no rush..i'll see what happens.

i suppose i can add i know some useful vet stuff. i worked as a vet assistant for about 8 months and was able to learn a lot.

and leadership skills, heh...only applied when i feel absoluetly necessary but i was chosen for a few 'elite' programs and the like which i didnt appreciate too much at the time but i realize they have been helpful to me.

Ok... well I think I'm fairyly young compared to most people here, but here goes.

Writing is my biggest talent. I'm studying journalism, plus taking a human rights minor. I'm big on creative writing ie poetry as well as the basic journalism format, plus I'm really good at writing essays.

I have a huge knowledge of the Classical World and am fascinated by anything related to that era.

I'm currently Head of Media for a non-profit organisation called Quest 2025, who are trying to make a difference with the way things are in the world. So I'm very big on human rights and know a fair bit about different issues including the drug war.

They have also asked me to lead up some of the economic issues, so when I learn a bit more about that.... then I'll know some more

Oh and geography is a big thing of mine. Taken a few classes in Uni, so as long as it's not totally in-depth (unless about Japan or Australia, I know lots about those) I should be able to help

I too, studied the environment in university.

What I learned most about was plants of Manitoba, and I also know a lot about ethnobotany, which is "the dynamic inter-relationship between people of a particular culture and their botanical environment."

I also have a great memory, as evident by the definition that I still know, 3 years after learning it.

I can also play the flute and piano, and soon I will be good at the accordion.

My last skill is that I am a good curler. (Curling is a very popular sport in Canada). Anyone who enjoys curling also, please pm me.

I'm a Jack of all trades, having done a great deal of computer and software training, writing, speaking, and so forth, but my focus in recent years has been filmmaking (writing, producing, directing and also acting). I have been putting these skills to use not only to advance my career as a narrative filmmaker, but also in editing projects for Last Chance for Animals and The Humane Society of the United States, which has been fulfilling.

I hope to continue combining my passions going forward.

I work with videoconferencing, so I have a background in ISDN and IP technology, as well as the various types of hardware used for video connectivity.

I'm also a certified picture framer, I know a little bit about web design, and I'm a passable writer. I'm an experienced beta reader and I often assist friends with writing assignments and fictional endeavors.

My educational goals include improving my web design techniques and going back to school for a degree in education. I want to teach either English or social studies. ^_^

And, on a silly note, I have an emoticon for every occasion. XD

I know a fair bit about cats and dogs and their various health problems, having lived with so many of them.

I deal well with difficult people.

Well, I don't have any particular skills, but if I know anything it's about dealing with kids. I do work with kids a LOT. No, I am not a mom. But I spend most of my time working as a camp counselor, interning in a first grade class, babysitting, teaching workshops to girls about diversity, health, etc., and hanging out with my little siblings, etc.

Yeah I am young though. Very much so.

Cool thread. Makes me realize I'm pretty much skill-less LOL

However, I know HTML like the back of my hand. Very good with grammar and spelling. Very knowledgeable about pet behavior. Extremely knowledgeable about pet rats, cats, dogs, betta fish and some types of snails. I am especially good at listening, and offering encouragement to my friends (always looking for new friends!)

Professionally, I get paid to organize things. Anyone need their life organized, PM me LOL
