Bouh!

I'm curious - in a good way, haha! Do you have favorite bands? Who are they?

I do like a pleeeeeeeenty of band and artists, but I got a top 3: my first favorite band is Black Box Revelation, my second favorite is The Black Keys and the third is The Beatles!

Tough question, as I have very diverse tastes.

My first ever favorite band was the Beatles, and I still love them.

I have Goth/PostPunk roots, so the Cure and Joy Division would be up there.

My most recent fave would be Massive Attack.

Yet if I could only listen to the music of one artist for the rest of my life, it I would choose Johann Sebastian Bach.

Anything so called classical music is good for me, and every piece is a memory, like rafting on the Moldau listening to the Moldau :) and flying over it in plane.

Otherwise more rock'roll, joan jett, led zepellin...

In more "modern" stuff it goes from guano apes and skunk anansie to say sabaton, nightwish, and a bit of Souad Massi, eisenfunk, infected mushroom, Robyn...

But most of the time i just put on the classical music radio station from the country i am in, it's always good, otherwise i have to shuffle trought my mixed up playlists.

And i beware not to sing aloud after, because of the copyright stuff :)

Scorpions will always remind me of motorbike road trips and shady bars.

I love Rammstein and Metallica. Others include Disturbed and Godsmack (though I haven't listened to them a lot recently).

There are many bands in which I like some songs but there are others I do not like. They include:

Hocico

Amduscia

Deathstars

Sirenia

Nightwish

Limp Bizkit

Amon Amarth

Behemoth

Dulce Liquido

Epica

Psyclon Nine

...

Though from some of them I only like one or two songs (but I like them a lot).

Rammstein has kept me pretty happy all these years :)

TOO HARD!

  • Reel Big Fish
  • Bob Marley
  • Cherry Poppin' Daddies
  • Joni Mitchell
  • Less Than Jake
  • Streetlight Manifesto
  • Beatles
  • Cat Stevens
  • Grateful Dead
  • Cake
  • Sublime
  • Faith No More
  • Fleetwood Mac
  • Pearl Jam
  • G Love

I'm afraid my musical taste has no style what-so-ever. I like a weird mix of stuff. The above are the bands/singers I listen to the most though.

:) That's the hardest I'll go though I don't go for the metal with the screaming unintelligible lyrics or the over used double base drum.. Pantera is where the line is drawn for me.. I love most of the bands you posted too.. its hard to pin a style i guess, just more so general ideas and feels.. just so much out there to say 'I like only this'

Yeah, it's easy to know what you don't like. Getting down what you love most is harder. I don't like metal either or anything too loud, though Ministry does a wicked Grateful Dead cover. I also don't like country at all. Or pop I guess - like radio pop.

well for me there are things I do prefer but I try to develop an appreciation for the genres. Sometimes it seems people dont like musical genres out of some sort of principal but a genre is a musical style, not necessarily a philosophy, or something that which different philosophies couldnt be a part of. For example country. I dont listen to it often I'm not particularly am a fan of most artists. but I love Johnny Cash.. I think elements of country are in The Eagles songs, and I like them. Same with Rap music. I dont particularly listen to it a ton but I can appreciate some of it. The same goes for metal, or any genre.. Pop is harder to justify for me as most of it is totally corporate by nature and uses social psychological phenomena to sell a product than it is about substantial emotion. And Dubstep, Dubstep is physically hard for me to listen to for a long period of time. but it doesnt stop me from trying to figure out what other people like about it.. :D

Sorry if this was some kind of weird digression, just talkin..

I like pretty much anything. Faves include:

Belle and Sebastian

Magnetic Fields

Joni Mitchell

Leonard Cohen

Patti Smith

The New Pornographers

Tegan and Sara

Goldfrapp

The Smiths/Morrissey

I'm all over the map lol. I think it's the best way to be though :).

Another fan of The Black Keys here though I do think their recent stuff is very commercial, reminds me of Kings of Leon. I saw The Black Keys at Brixton Academy a couple of years ago and although they were great live, I much preferred their older, 'filthy-dirty' sound. I missed Dan's beard as well, he was practically clean-shaven :( they even looked like KoL haha.

I'm generally more of a dance music kind of gal so for me I'd have to say:

Faithless

Prodigy

Chase & Status

For me it tends to be less about bands and more about DJ mixes.

My son is into Dubstep. I actually like some of it but mostly I just tolerate it. At the kid's school they had a motivational speaker and in his speech he said it sounds like Transformers having sex. They thought that was hilarious.

For me, I mostly prefer Alternative Rock. Mostly Modest Mouse and Green Day. They recently canned the local alternative station and I'm really bummed about that.

Well,

Bauhaus

The Cure

The Sisters of Mercy

Fields of The Nephilim

The Mission

Nirvana

Massive Attack

Summoning

Immortal

Darkthrone

Wintersun

Turisas

Horna

...to name a few. I listen to most music really, it's usually individual songs I dislike instead of bands.
