Ok, so I have a sore throat and a wee cough. It's not even 10am yet and I don't know how many times I've heard "Well you wouldn't be sick if you ate meat and drank milk like you're supposed to." or "Have some chicken noodle soup for lunch.. I know you don't eat it but just this once will be ok" Some people just can't wait for the chance to blame a cold or any other malady on being a veg*n.

Just needed to vent....

btw.. thanks to everyone who came up with suggestions for getting rid of a sore throat.

Just blame it on crappy Western medicene instead of "you and veganism" having to take the flak ...and say that the thought of giving into meat (blurh) made you ill!...all a result of the insidious anti-vegan pressure that surrounds you!...etc.

Tell 'em it's all the antibiotics you consumed the years you weren't vegan. They F'd up your immune system permanently.

As well as all the growth hormones, bulk enhancers, steriods, diseased animals that were ground up and fed to the other animals....

Then, I would prolly look them dead in the eye and ask (in sweet-sarcastic tone) "Please tell me how that's supposed to make me feel better? Is E. Coli the new cure-all that I don't know about? What's that expression 'botulisim for a cold and saminalla for a fever' or is it the other way around? I keep forgetting..." Ok, I admit it. When I'm sick I have little to no patience and I tend to say the meanest things I can think of in a tone that reaks of sarcasim.

Stupid omnis aside, I hope you're feeling much better soon. Warm lemonade helps soothe a sore throat for me and some nice ginger broth (or hot ginger tea) helps break up the congestion. Also, some veggie soup or tomato soup does well. If I'm really congestioned, I'll do tomato soup with a spoonful or two of El Pato stirred in.

Or you could give them a guilt trip and say "thanks, I feel much better now, I love how you insult my choices ALL the time".
