for your height - 6 foot you can be between 147-182 pounds and be classified as having a "normal weight (bmi 20-25)". This was found out from the website:-

http://www.weightlossresources.co.uk...ight/chart.htm

I do not know much about lossing weight but I would suggest you eat more than your proposed diet. As long as you get your needed stuff then you'll be okay. I do know that even on a diet you need a good breakfast to stop you from getting hungry mid-morning, a light healthy snack and a good dinner (do not stint on this meal). A simple search on this site and on the internet will give you all the information on what you need and good diet plans.

Remember the first lot of weight you will loose will be fluid and not fat so do not get dis-heartened if during your first few days/weeks you have rapid weight loss followed by much slower loss.

As a side point. If weight loss pills don't work then why not throw them away?

Thanks for the info! I paid over $100.00 for the vegetarian weight loss pills at a health food store. When I bought them I thought maybe they would work since it's all natural from a health food store.

Congrats on the bit of weight loss you've already accomplished since going veggie! I'd use the elliptical trainer both in the morning and in the evening, if you have the time and energy. Walk and take the stairs whenever you have a choice. Keep yourself well hydrated.

Good luck! I'm excited for you!

Diet pills at all are bad for you, and if they worked, don't you think more people would be thin?? Just because something is all natural doesn't mean it's healthy. Poisonous mushrooms are all natural and they will certainly kill you.

Don't cut your food down too much, it will slow your metabolism. It will also leave you very hungry and more prone to eat a whole bunch of crap than will eating sufficient amounts of food at regular intervals.

Is this contest by pounds or percentage?? pounds wouldn't be fair for those who start off weighing less :p

After these pills are gone I'm not buying any more. I think it's by percentage.

Thanks, veggiejanie! I just realized the 9 pounds I've lost might also be due to the fact that I haven't had any pop in 7 months.

I don't count calories, etc.

I usually eat cereal with soy milk in the morning.

For lunch I usually have mock meat with fruit, sometimes beans, sometimes a packaged vegetarian meal.

Dinner varies, either mock meat and mashed potatoes or BBQ Tofu and fruit, sometimes a packaged vegetarian meal.

for snacks at work I usually have a granola bar.

I eat a lot of Taco Bell. My usual is 2 tacos (no meat / cheese sub beans), a bean burrito (no cheese) and a Mexican pizza (no meat / cheese sub beans add lettuce / tomato).

I'm trying to get away from mock meat, and I need to cut down on Taco Bell.

i would substitute some of the packaged food with a large salad with any veggie you can think of, and some beans and nuts. also, cheese has a lot of fat and calories as well.

it would be beneficial for you to plug in what you eat into Fitday and see how many calories you consume and in what percentages. in order to lose one pound a week you have to create a deficit of 500 calories per day.

Here is a very simple weight loss plan from Eat To Live by Dr. Joel Fuhrman.

Breakfast: fresh fruit

Lunch: salad, beans on top, fruit

Dinner: salad, two cooked vegetables, fruit

Also have one Tbsp of ground flaxseed and one ounce (about 1/4 cup) of raw seeds/nuts daily.

https://www.drfuhrman.com/weightloss/default.aspx

The best to you!

Thanks for the info!

I know cheese is bad, that's why I don't get it at Taco Bell. I also try to stay away from it in general.

I would suggest a protein, carb & fruit for your first meal of the day. Add a veggie & grain to your lunch and dinner. Add 2-3 snacks throughout the day (at least one a fruit). Be sure you are eating every 2-3 hours to keep your motabilism pumping. Stay away from Taco Bell, you should never eat that many calories at one sitting. Keep in mind you can eat every 2-3 hours, that helps at first. So you'll spread your caloric intake throughout the day. Otherwise you risk your body slowing down and possibly storing fat. Drink lots of water, approx 2 liters throughout the day.

Be sure you are exercising at least 3x's weekly. This should be a lifetime change, not just for the contest. Good Luck to you.

Take out the Taco Bell for sure. I think they use hydrogenated oils in the beans, which is really bad for you. Trans fats contribute to overall body fat and raise bad cholesterol.

That sounds like a good meal plan. I will try my hardest to live healthier and cut down on Taco Bell after the contest, also.

I've noticed that cutting down on my calories these last few days that I've been craving meat. I just had 2 meatless gardenbuger ribs, a can of vegetarian beans, a cup of pineapple and light cranberry juice for lunch. I don't crave meat after I eat meatless meat, but I still need to cut down on it.

Week 2 - I've lost 7 pounds, I've lost the most weight so far, but because of percentage I'm in 3rd place. There are 2 girls before me and the one in 1st is already skinny so she doesn't have to loose much to have high percentage.

I want to win the contest, not just for the money, but to show that vegetarianism (with exercise) is superior to the what some of the others are doing (low carb, that kind of stuff). It will look good if out of a group of people, the vegetarian wins.
