Hi guys<br><br><br><br>
This week's health challenge is about moving. Not aerobic exercise, more like "lifestyle activity."<br><br><br><br>
This week, as much as possible, make an effort to move. I'm thinking of things like this:<br><br><br><br>
- walking over to a co-worker to talk to her instead of calling or emailing<br><br><br><br>
- parking farther away at the grocery store so you get a little extra walking in<br><br><br><br>
- taking the stairs instead of the escalator or elevator<br><br><br><br>
- walking somewhere you would usually drive<br><br><br><br>
- taking the long way when you walk to the bathroom at work or school<br><br><br><br>
And there's lots of other ways to be more active. Like with the last challenge, feel free to post everyday or simply at the end of the week. Some of you may do most of this stuff already, that's OK, you should still join in because it will give us ideas and encourage everyone else.<br><br><br><br>

Heehee, I always take the long way at school, but mostly because I didn't even KNOW about the shortcuts. After being here for two darned years. It's better for me anyway. And after trying both routes and seeing that the cute boys are on the long way, i usually do that. Ugh, I sound like such a stupid high school girl. That's ok though, because THAT'S what I am. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/smiley.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title=":)">

Hope everyone's doing well with the challenge. I parked at the back of the parking lot at the grocery store today, and I cleaned the house and didn't cut any corners so I could take full advantage of the toning & cardio opportunities!<br><br><br><br>
Oh, and I walked to the end of the driveway to get the mail instead of just pulling up and grabbing it when I'm driving by in the car. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/grin.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title=":D"><br><br><br><br>
All little things but they add up.

i completely agree that all of the little things add up. i go thru my days doing very purposeful things, like leaving the phone up or downstairs such that if it rings i have to go up or down to get it. i always park very far away--which i am sure irritates the people that have to get the grocery carts from six miles away from the store--oh well. i hate it when people minimize the impact these sorts of things can have on ones health--i have been made fun of several times.

I did my hamstering, and went to softball practice. and the softball field is at the bottom of a hill, so that you have to walk a long way to get there. Especially when you're done and you walk up the hill! PHEW. Especially when the coach asks you to bring up the bag of helmets with you.

the city is repaving my street this week, so i have to park a ways down the street - so this will help a bit with the challenge <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/smiley.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title=":)">

also, in keeping with last weeks challenge, I find myself running to the bathroom often <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/smiley.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title=":)"><img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/smiley.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title=":)"><img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/smiley.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title=":)">

I'll take this challenge too. My office is in the basement of our building and the main office is on the second floor so I walk up and down two flights 2-3 times a day to check in and get my mail, etc. The copy machine and the fax are on the third floor. I also have to walk in from the parking lot here at work (maybe half a block each way?) and to the post office on campus once or twice a day. I'll try to be more conscious of walking more.

So how did everybody do at this challenge?<br><br><br><br>
I must admit that I sucked at it. I do alot of regular exercise but doing the small things, hmmm.....<br><br><br><br>
The only extra thing I did I think was walk the extra long way to the bathrooms at work. But the real only reason for that was becasue it was pouring out.<br><br><br><br>
Oh, and I always take the stairs instead of the elevator. I'm afraid of elevators. I know, I'm weird.

I did a good job with this week's challenge. I've been parking further away and walking. I'm also taking the stairs more, especially at work which I do constantly. My husband and I also went for a long walk this week. That's one habit I'm going to try to keep.

I met the challenge. Everywhere I went I parked in the farthest spot from the entrance. (My DH was like, "there's a spot up close". I said, "but we need the exercise".) At work I got up every hour and walked around the building and I worked out every day. Yeah for the challenge. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/grin.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title=":D">

hey, this challenge sounds like fun!<br><br>
i just read it now so i havent had a chance to do any of this 'extra moving', but i'll post back.
