Hello all! My hair is naturally blonde, and I dyed it red about 5 months ago. I really like it, but I want my blonde hair back. Other than washing it frequently with a not-for-colored-hair shampoo and waiting for it to grow out, what can I do to make it fade faster? Any one?
Wash your hair in hotter water, and scrub. Also, I heard medicated shampoos (like, for dander and stuff,) will take the dye out. I'm not sure of a vegan one, though.
How about some blonde streaks? Or add some layers? That's all I can think of. When I dyed my hair black (and it was already dark), I just had to cut the whole bit off after I grew tired of it as nothing I tried could make it fade or blend in with the new hair.
If I get super impatient I mix a TINY amount of chlorine in a five gallon bucket with warm water and dunk my hair in it, rinse, dunk, rinse, dunk, rinse.... Alternatively, you can go swimming or hot tubbing since that's basically the same idea. Letting your hair dry in the sun outside also helps to fade it.
Bleach baths are also good. While it is technically bleaching, it's much milder and gradual. Here's a guide on how to do it. Essentially you mix two parts shampoo to one part hair bleach. It helps to remove the color gently without the OMG BLEACHED HAIR! look.
