So, we've been talking about moving to either Arizona or Washington, and have decided upon Washington/Seattle!

Can you guys tell me about some decent neighborhoods and the like? Thanks so much!

I love the University District. It has a great combination of a college environment and veg*n-friendly atmosphere. GoVeg.com says it is "one of the most vegetarian-friendly neighborhoods in America." http://www.goveg.com/f-vegcities-seattle.asp

However, I am not sure what you are looking for. Also, here is a great web page to use as a starting point: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neighborhoods_in_Seattle.

Congrats on the choice, by the way. Looking forward to having you in the area.

Now we've actually swung out focus to the inner city, one of the apartment towers, specifically legacy at pratt park. Is the downtown area pretty crime free?

I'm so excited
Going from Alaska to Washington, I can't wait.

no problem; I am curious though why would you want to live in downtown? especially in a high rise apt? I went to the top of the Columbia Center when it was being built and could feel the building swaying/flexing in the wind... no thanks.... not to mention I don't think I would want to be in one when a quake hits.... but that's me.

I just want to give it a shot, if only for a few months. I've done the little condo and house thing, but have never gotten to try a high rise apartment.
