So spring has spring, and I am in the mood to garden. The problem is that I have never grown anything in my life except a sunflower for a third-grade science project, which I forgot about and it died.

I am wondering if there are any books or websites you could recommend to get me started?

I see that you live in Arizona. I live in Colorado and we have a Colorado State Cooperative Education Extension (or something like that) and they have tons of stuff that helps ... when to plant certain things, stuff about 'zones,' watering, etc. You might want to check out their website as I think they cover states near to CO too. Here it is: http://www.ext.colostate.edu/ What I've found is that you have to look a bit to find what you're wanting but once you find it it is helpful.

Good Luck! I'm a newbie too and have inherited a garden at the rental I'm at ... I'm currently needing to get some compost and mulch! Denver's recycling program actually sells this and has links to all these resources ... you might want to check out the government website for your city or county to see if there's any resources there too.
