Heaven is for believers

The Rev. R.L. Baynham, pastor of Metropolitan Baptist Church, Kansas City, Kan.: Is this question about animals having souls, or is it about what will happen to our wonderful and loyal pets when this life as we know it, is ended? Our desire is to be able to see our pets that have been good to us here enjoy the same benefits in the afterlife. The Bible has registered on many occasions the value of animals to man.

While I understand this powerful association with pets and while we are created and live in this environment, we are different. We understand that all animals are not the same in their behavior and other aspects. Their main role in the world is to provide for man's survival and companionship.

Animals were created with instincts that allow them to function with special abilities to understand danger, disasters and friendliness of other animals. Man, on the other hand, was created with moral ability and intelligence to distinguish right from wrong. Man was also created to give God glory and participate in the responsibility to bring the highest good to his neighbor and God.

It is a wonderful feeling to think that our pets will have a place in the hereafter, but heaven is a place where believers go when life on this earth is ended.

There are one hundred billion galaxies each with one hundred billion stars. People want me to believe that any god capable of creating all that is so small minded in his focus as to only assign a soul to one species of barbaric, self destructive ape on one tiny backwater planet nobody's ever heard of? That seems like sort of a small god for such a big universe, don't you think?

I think the better question is "can they suffer?" Hey preacher guy in article...ever seen a steer getting de horned? They have to tie him down. Reckon why? Maybe because he's in a crap load of pain? I mean I'm not a doctor or anything. Just stating the obvious. You seem to know far more about the universe than I, or apparently the Bible since most of the crap you're talking about ain't in it, and I've read it cover to cover four times.

Lol. Perhaps God is frightened by all the quantum wierdness, fuzz, vibrating strings and hyperdimensional membranes and he's taking out his schizophrenic frustrations on us (and I use that pronoun holistically).

The Christian bible even mentions that animals have souls (or rather, it did before it was translated into Latin, Greek, and then English).
