Hi,

I've been a vegeterian for about 13 years and I'm 21 lately I have been lacking energy and have been getting dizzy at times. I have a feeling I haven't been getting all my vitamins and nutrients and I was wondering if anyone has any good vitamin suggestions and what I could do to improve my energy levels.

Thanks

What is a typical day of food / eating for you? You could just be lacking protein or fat or carbohydrates; often fatigue is attributed to B / B12, but let's take a look first!

I usally don't eat breakfast, but if I do I'll have wheat toast with fruit, then for lunch I'll have fake chicken nuggets (Quorn), and for dinner I'll have a veggie burger (Amy's) with french fries. And I always enjoy something sweet after dinner like a candy bar or something like that. Thats pretty much all I eat and I don't take any vitamins. I would love to start cooking other fresh things but I'm not the best cook.

Thank you

Well, considering you really aren't getting any fresh fruits or vegetables in your diet, I would guess that you probably are lacking in quite a few vitamins and minerals. Also, you are lacking in calories. Taking a multivitamin is not a bad idea at all, but you'd probably feel better still if you ate significantly more calories and incorporated produce into your diet. (French fries don't count) You don't need to know how to cook to grab a piece of fresh fruit or open a bag of salad.

It sounds like you're not eating enough food. You should never ever miss breakfast! It's so important for jump starting your metabolism and energy level. It sounds like you need some more veggies and fruits in your diet. You can eat them raw or steam them in a steam basket (they're only like $7 at the grocery store). Just because you're not the best cook now, doesn't mean you can't learn. Just buy an easy vegetarian recipe cookbook.

http://blog.shippersx.com <--- I have some pretty simple recipes here too!

You might need extra iron

Lack of carbohydrate will also make you tired. I used to be like this all the time until I started eating more. You may not be consuming enough calories.

Lack of carbohydrates, calories or vitamin B deficiency could be possible reasons why you are lacking in energy and are feeling dizzy.
