I work in childcare and lately have been getting sick a lot, colds, sinus infections, typical kids colds. I wanted to get the flu vaccination but it isn't vegan so that's a huge no for me. Is there a vitamin around that has garlic, vitamin c, Echinacea etc all the things to help my body? To boost my immune system?

Sorry for the long post...

My workplace merged with another from the next state over.
These newer people are SO GROSS!!!

They don't bother turning their head or covering their mouth when coughing, they just cough right at you! I've seen them pick their nose, and instead of wiping their finger on something, they just rub the snot into their fingertips, pick up a pen, and keep on writing! One guy just started smushing bugs with his fingertips, and then just kept typing on the keyboard! I found a little piece of poop on the side of the bathroom sink!!! HOW!?!?!?

I work in this constant spray of various bodily fluids! These people have no social qualms about scratching where it itches, and not washing their hands after.

It's been like this for a year. And, whenever someone gets sick, everyone else has it in a matter of days.

But, I've found this wonderful product that has helped me out a great deal. Now, when there's a sickness going around the workplace, I'm either the only one who doesn't catch it, or if I do catch it its very mild and I don't suffer like everyone else.

I also want to add that I don't take any flu shots.

Anyway, its called Immune Complete, and is sold and branded by The Vitamin Shoppe.
I start taking it the second I notice that people are sniffling or coughing more than normal, I hear that someone is sick, or if no one is sick, but I've compromised my own immune system by binge drinking instead of sleeping.

I see that you are in Australia, so I'll just list the ingredients. This really works for me, and it may just be my own body chemistry. The ingredients seem very simple. But, I really hope it works for you, too.

Per tablet - Take 1 or 2 tablets daily

Off the label:

Vitamin A (as 100% beta carotene) 1000 IU 20% daily value
Vitamin C (as ascorbic acid) 500mg 833% daily value
Zinc (as zinc gluconate) 10mg 67%
Echinacea purpurea Extract 250mg
Elderberry Extract 100mg
Astragalus membranaceua (root) 250mg

I know this doesn't help you but for anyone else reading, I just went ahead and got the flu vaccine. I know it's technically not vegan but I think it's OK to make exceptions for things like medications and vaccines. To me, it's important to stay healthy enough that I can still do animal activism and take care of my son.

I'd agree with this. What animal products are in the vaccine? I didn't even realize it wasn't vegan.

I am never sick. I also never got a flu vaccine. I think it is slightly useless if there are so many different strains of it anyways.

What I do at every change of season is take for 1 month pure Echinacea and VitaminC. (both chewable) Seems to work.

The important thing with Echinacea is to not take it all the time. You must do short 'power immunity boosts' for better efficiency.

Hope this helps

Thank you for that! I found a shop that sells them in 60 tablets

What is your opinion on the flu shot? I'm in the air about it.

I don't get flu shots, but its not based on veganism at all.

It started out as a laziness thing, but as I've decided not to get them...ever... because as I have actually never heard anyone say "Wow, I am so glad I got a flu shot!" Instead, all I hear are things like:

"Oh... No... I don't want to go out with you guys... I got a flu shot yesterday... *sniffle* I don't feel so well..."

"Ugh... My mouth tastes like I've been eating pennies because I got a flu shot this morning.
"
"I've got the flu. Yes, I did get a flu shot, the flu shot gave me the flu... but, I know that, AH-CHOO!!!!, that had I actually gotten the flu without the shot *snort* then it would have been a lo --- lot... --- AH-CHOO!!! -worse."

"I need to make sure I get my flu shot when I have a string of days off from work... It would suck to have to drag myself around work while recovering from the flu shot."

Wait---what? For real? You guys can HAVE your flu shot.
I might consider it if I ever, EVER heard someone say "Wow, I feel great, and I owe it all to the flu shot that I received."
