I woke up this morning to my husband telling me someone had thrown a brick through our van's window in an attempt to steal stuff. It sucks, we live in a town with no parking, so we have to park overnight in a parking garage. Our minivan is very innocent looking, nothing fancy about it, no gadgets or inviting things to steal. The passager side window was busted out, there was glass everywhere, even in my son's carseat in the back.

All because some crack-head was just looking for change. They stole a book of 60 burnt CD's (at least we thought ahead enough to burn our CD's in case this happened) that they probably dumped a block away. Our insurance dosen't cover this sort of thing , so we had to pay out-of-pocket. I just wanted to vent. This was not a pleasant way to wake up in the morning.

that sucks, it never feels good when your space is invaded.that happened once at my apt building. we have stalls in a garage and at the time there were no locks on the doors. the cops came and knocked on my door at 2am, one of our neighbors called and the police caught them n the act. i let my husband sleep cause he had to be up at 4 for work. i had to go down and identify our stuff. when i came back to the apt. i work the hubby up and he went down to talk to the cops.

i "almost" felt sorry for them. they were minors that had borrowed their mom's car. the car had to be impounded and the cops lets my husband threaten them when they were in the car. we live in pretty much an all white town, so the last thing you want to see when you break into cars is a black man arms full of tattoos trying to put his fist through the car window and punch you in the face. we did get a letter of apology from the perp though.

Oh, I definely live in a prodominantly white town so I understand what it is you're getting at. I just have this vision in my head of what the kids looked like when they saw your husband stomping toward the car

I'll bet it was priceless.

They probably don't have comprehensive coverage. If you only maintain collission and liability, or your comprehensive deductible is really high, then relatively minor damage comes out of your pocket.

Wow the lack of Robert's input here must mean.....he's on his way there to put the smackdown on those fools

What happened to you sucks. Sorry

My little sister has had her purse stolen 5 times in the past few months. Once, right off the front seat of my Jeep. I have a very nice stereo system, as well as other valuables in there (I felt bad, but my first thought was- THANK GOD they didn't do anything to my Jeep or stereo). Anyhow, she had just cashed her paycheck, had a ruby ring, a pair of diamond earings, and her birth control pills. My Jeep window was rolled down a bit- otherwise they probably would have busted out the window. We were right there at a park, laying in the sun. She was devastated. It has happened several times since.

We were driving in a really nice neighborhood the other day and there was grafitti and broken windows on every RV and fancy car there. Like some kids just went by and hit every house. Even some garage doors had paint on them. It was disgusting.

Yup, exactly. If my husband had caught the person, they'd at least have gotten their ass kicked-I think then I'd I'd feel better. Aj's mommy-my husband's not black, but he does sort of have the same effect, tattooed and tough. Thanks for listening to me whine

I've had my car broken in to so many times over the years that it just seems like business now... Sad, eh?
