Hey guys,

We're having a veggie gathering promoted by our local Vegetarian Society next month, and I've been chosen as the head cook. The host of this gathering is a friend of mine and he asked me to do this cause he's used to coming over to my house for lunch/dinner, and happens to really like my food. :p Only problem now is that I have absolutely no idea of what to come up with for the menu. I'm usually fine cooking for friends and family, but we're talking about 50 people here and my mind is just blank. Around 7 people have volunteered to help me prepare the meal, so I shouldn't have any problems with the cooking, I just don't know what to serve! We want it to be a kickass lunch... Could any of you please be as kind as to help me with some ideas? I'll post lots of pictures of the gathering when it takes place.

Thank you all, you guys rock!!!

Hmmm, are you interested in defining a theme? Or are you thinking of potluck style where is a mish-mash of all kinds of different foods? That might helps us help your with ideas.

For example, if you were in to a theme, then would you be interested in an Italian style lunch? With maybe a minestrone soup, olive tapenade, vegan foccaccia (sic), etc etc etc... and some Italian desserts.

Or Indian style ... with a few Indian dal dishes of sorts? Then with poppadums, raita, chappatis and Indian style dessert?

Or Thai... with a Panang Curry and maybe a another red curry... or green or yellow... And with a coconut mushroom soup and finish with a nice sorbet for dessert...

The list goes on...

I hadn't thought about it, actually! It's a pretty good idea, I'm especially interested in your Italian and Indian style suggestions... It's currently summertime where I live, though, so I guess I'd have to think of something else other than soup as the main course.

Anyway, thanks a lot! I'll keep you posted.

You could do a cold soup, like a cucumber and avacado soup, or a gazpacho.
