Hi

I've heard a lot of people say that vegetarianism is good for the environment. I'm not arguing or anything, but I've been racking my brain (which doesn't say much =P) and I can't figure out how vegetarianism helps the environment at all. I guess I'm pretty stupid =P lol.

Any help?

Here's a page that outlines some of it.

http://www.veg.ca/issues/enintro.html

clearing the rain forests and so on to graze cattle is part of it. Damaging fragile ecosystems-- hog and cattle feedlot run off is a major pollution source, killing water animals/fish destroying animal habitats. growing grains to feed cattle instead of feeding people is a waste of limited resources. Leaching natural vitamins and so on from the ground. Killing wild animals like bears and coyotes because they pester cattle upsetting the natural environment... I'm no expert, but thats what I could come up with.
