I've had people instantly assume vegetarian = pro choice democrat

all of these people turned out to pro life republicans

not that there is anything wrong with either, (i wont go into that), but its annoying to hear how much people think they know about you when they know nothing.

Yeah, I want a bumper sticker that says "REAL pro-lifers don't kill animals".

But then people would assume I'm "pro-life". I'm not. I'm not "pro-choice" either. I'm "anti-abortion debate". I think the whole "pro-life" vs "pro-choice" debate is dragging down American politics, and we should all get together and agree to be "anti-unwanted pregnancies". Just think of the millions of dollars and man hours wasted debating the legality of abortion, then think of how many abortions could have been prevented by spending that time and money on sex education, abstinance training, and condom distribution instead.

Other than that, I'm a typical extremist liberal, which makes me wonder what took me so long to become a vegetarian.

I am definitely a proud liberal Democrat! I am pro-choice while still believing that I am also pro-life. I beileve that I have a consistent life ethic, from opposing war, working towards making abortion rare and respecting the earth...and being a vegetarian is part of my life ethic.

I've never really known what to call myself. I know where I stand on certain issues but I can't really fall into any category. I have taken some quizzes and they all seem to say I'm right down the middle. I think I was termed liberal conservative or conservative liberal. haha guess they don't mean the same thing when you switch them around like that. Somebody help me figure it out!

I'm another zig-zagger. Mostly a green zig-zagger but there are a few splotches of red, or at least pinko there as well.

According to the article's own notes, veg*nism doesn't fit the description of "social liberalism" (which is a largely political ideology), but rather something like "social progressivism"

Quote:
This article concerns "social liberalism" as a political ideology generally associated with the centre-left, in keeping with the predominantly European usage of the term. The term 'social liberal' is also commonly used in North American contexts to describe those favourable to the preservation or furthering of human rights, social rights, civil rights and civil liberties, in contrast to 'social conservative'. For the latter usage see social progressivism.

I don't consider myself an anarchist, but I have very little belief in representational democracy. I'm pro-choice (as a legal matter), think the environment is extremely important, support gay rights in all forms, think the social safety net or whatever it's called should be as emphasized as possible, have no problems with immigration. But note that I live in a Scandinavian welfare state where some of these beliefs (like gay rights) are commonplace.

I don't know what that makes me, but somewhat leftist I guess. But I guess by American standards that would make me someone who should be put in a box and shipped to Russia.

Sevenseas, by American standards, you'd by considered an extremist left wing hippie liberal.
ROFL... Count me in, too. Although I'd consider myself a zig zag environmentalist (I do have conservative views on a few subjects), I am very aware that in the USA I would, as Sevenseas aptly said,
