A lot of the Levis have a "leather like" papery patch on the back, which I'm pretty sure is not animal based, but they also use leather labels on certain models. You can tell the difference by the thickness and texture of the patch. If it's thick, it's probably leather. A lot of jean manufacturers have models that variably use leather and non leather patches. I've seen Calvin Klein, Hilfiger, Bullhead, and Gap jeans that use nonleather patches. You just have to check on an individual basis. There's also a company like April 77 whose products are all vegan.
