Vegan weight

I was just curious on some experiences of those when you first went vegan as far as weight? Did you lose or gain?

Are you talking about losing weight from going to veganism from eating meat or from vegetarianism?

When I went vegetarian, I lost 13 pounds. When I went vegan (for a short period), I lost 2 more pounds. I know that if I stayed with it (hardcore vegan), then I would have lost probably 5 more. It really just depends on what you're consuming and how much. If you're living off bone-char-free sugar and white flour, you probably wouldn't lose anything. I noticed that when I went vegetarian, my diet habits changed dramatically. When from eating high calorie, deep fried meats to more veggies and soy products. Best thing I ever did!

And now... I'm a vegetarian and I've put back on a few pounds because I can't stop snacking. Bad Heather. Once I go back to work, I'll be going back to normal, hopefully.

When I went vegetarian, I didn't notice a difference in my weight. When I gave up dairy, even though I wasn't a vegan yet, I lost about 10 pounds.
I've jumped from omni to Vegan directly (I skipped veg*an phase as I gave up dairy - eggs and meat in one hit
)

I was not so fat, but a bit overweight. I've lost 20 pounds in the first month... and then some more, but did not monitor hehe.

Well, I was never overweight, I'm 5 feet 6 inches and weighed 130 pounds before going vegan (maybe a little bit more weight than I'd like, but nothing bad). However since I've been veg I've lost about 7 pounds. Five in the first month and then over the next month I lost one more pound, but I haven't lost or gained any weight since that.
I went vegan from being ovo-lacto, it's been 8 days, and I have already lost 4lbs. I am only slightly overweight, female 5'6".

Mind you, I am eating very well. My diet consists of soy milk, fresh fruit, veggies, rice, coffee, and occasionally some raw sugar. Oh and hummus and pita . . . can't forget that.
I lost a whole lot of weight when I went vegetarian about a year ago...I went from having a full healthy body to being stick thin. I ate tons of fruit and a whole lotta nothing. I wanted to be thin so bad and I feel horrible for what I did to my body. But now I am on the right track and eating the right amount of foods. I have stopped worrying about how many calories are in a piece of food and more if it's healthy or not for my body. Food shouldn't be you enemy when your 13 years old or any age for that matter. It should be something everyone can enjoy and nourish them selves with!
None of my dietary transitions have led to any shifting in weight in any direction.
I didn't say, but I wasn't overweight when I went vegetarian. I was in the normal range (middle), but didn't even realize that I was packing on a little extra weight until I lost it. I put on my size 9 pants after I lost the weight and my mouth dropped. I could fit my rabbit and chinchillas in there with me! Looking back at pictures, there is a HUGE difference.
I went from omni to vegan and went from about 114 lbs to about 93 lbs. I'm currently trying to stop losing anymore weight and maybe put some weight back on.
None for me! Actually, had I been eating remotely near healthy since going vegan I probably would have lost weight....but actually despite eating large quantities of vegan cupcakes, cookies and chocolate related yummy things I haven't put any weight on...

Who me??

I'm only 5 ft..so yeah i'm really tiny. so i'm not stick thin or anything.
Good
I was hoping you weren't going to say 5'6 or something. A number of people here have eating disorders. I'm glad you don't
According to the BMI, you are underweight, but I don't think it's a very accurate system.

Thanks for your concern. If i was taller than i am i would be very worried myself. I don't put much stock in the BMI thing either because it says my brother's obese which he clearly isn't. I am trying to gain more weight though to maybe build up some muscle because although i'm not a stick i'm not exactly muscly either.
Penn and Teller: Bull**** talked about how flawed the BMI thing was. It says my brother is obese too when he's really not. It doesn't take into consideration age, muscle mass, gender, etc.

I'm hoping to get some muscle too
I use small weights and do lots of reps. I want people to run away in fear when they see me!

No, I'm kidding...

i agree about the BMI being flawed, my brother weight lifts and is much taller than me and it says obese.. crazy!!

I don't do weights, maybe i should, i need more muscle and lifting power becuase i work with heavy things, and work with my horse..it would help to be a bit heavier and stronger so that when he nudges me i don't go flying!! I started pilates to get more strength but it was hard and so i gave up..i might take up yoga again, i'm the sort of person that needs easy readily available exercise or i won't do it.
I love pilates! I used to do them everyday, but got too busy and haven't been able to get a routine going again. I'm the same way as you about exercise. If I break even 1 day of it, I want to stop all together. For a while, I was running 10-20 minutes everyday for 2 weeks... then I got sick. That always happens.

You should invest in a set of weights (they're actually really cheap at places like Target). Maybe buy 2-three pound weights and 2-five pound weights. You can do a bunch of different arm and ab workouts with them! You should check out the Carmen Electra striptease workout set. It's actually fun to do
I try to do between 100-200 crunches a day too (different types). I took a kickboxing class not long ago and loved it, so I do those routines sometimes as well.

I think my back is too boney to so pilates..when i had finished after an hour iwas all bruised just from laying on my back.. so i gave up cos i couldn't liedown comfortably for a few days.

wow..you do way more than i thought about doing. I mean i work for 2 hours every day at a barn so my arms and back get a pretty good work out but the rest of me suffers. I probably should ivest in a small set of weights, more muscles would make my barn job easier. i'l check out the Carmen Elecra set too..striptease, sounds like fun!! I used to do like workout classes and stuff when i was at uni a few years ago but didn't really get into it after i moved here. and running is really out of the question, it makes my chest hurt like i can't breathe.
