I didn't watch it, but I think you may be thinking of feed consumed instead of milk produced... According to "America's Dairy Farmers:"

Quote:
*How much milk does a cow give each day?

On average, a cow will produce 6-7 gallons of milk each day.

*What do cows eat?

Cows eat about 100 pounds of feed each day, which is a combination of hay, grain and silage (fermented corn or grass). They drink a lot of water too up to 50 gallons a day.

The video says the average dairy cow will produce 100 gallons of milk per day. I just watched it again to make sure. That does seem high.

Sorry for the confusion. I deleted my post because I just saw you wrote lbs (thinking you had written gallons) and I didn't know the conversion.

Anyway (I'll repost), in gallons, this is what I found (from "America's Dairy Farmers"):

Cows eat about 100 pounds of feed each day, which is a combination of hay, grain and silage (fermented corn or grass). They drink a lot of water too - up to 50 gallons a day.
