Hey guys,

My nutrition prof asked for a vegan to come in and talk to the class (about 500 students) about veganism. So logically I volunteered.
Since it's a nutrition class I don't want to talk too much about animal rights, but I would like to talk about how their treatment/feed/hormones makes eating meat unhealthy. And of course how simple it is to replace meat and animal products in your diet.

I think this is an amazing opportunity considering the size of the class. I could actually tell hundreds of people all at once vegans don't eat fish or chicken! haha And they get tested on my material so they have to pay attention.

Basically, I'm looking for help. Any websites about vegan diet/lifestyle and pictures of food porn to show off our awesome food

If I do it right I'm sure I'll get invited back and could potentially tell well over 1,000 people about veganism before I graduate!

Thanks

I don't know if nutrition specifically includes disease prevention, but the 'Eating Animals' chapter on factory farmed influenza makes a pretty convincing argument

If it's possible, maybe bring something to eat as well, so that everyone can have a piece of cake and happy feeling afterwards :p I do that frequently at school after everyone has written their 5h-long exams. It's nice to make them associate veganism with chocolatey goodness.

I would love to do handouts/food but this is a class of 500 students. I don't have the cash to make that many copies or that much food.
But I am going to talk about how easy it is to get vegan food on campus since our campus has quite a few vegan options.

I would definitely like to talk about disease prevention and how we get all our vitamins and protein. My dream is they never again ask a vegan where they get protein from.

Also, I'd like to get a list of famous vegans especially athletes. It's a class of mainly freshman and I think they would be influenced by knowing some of their favorite people are vegan or at least vegetarian.

Josh James: The vegan health website is awesome, thank you so much! I haven't looked at the rest yet but I'm sure they are great too.

Let's see... There's quite a few vegan athletes out there, including that guy who does ultra-marathons... Um... Forgot his name. Google? Then Natalie Portman, Sinead O'Connor, Morrissey, Emilie Autumn, Tobey Maguire, Moby, Jason Mraz and Bryan Adams.

I'm really bad at knowing famous vegans, but I'm sure Wikipedia can help. I'd check up on that list, though - it lists Brad Pitt and as far as I know he's not vegan.
