FAQ (updated July 20th): http://www.veggieboards.com/boards/blog.php?b=320

Come one, come all, to participate in the vegan snack exchange!

What is it? You put together a care gift for your recipient, full of goodies and snacks just for them! Budget is $20 for the gift + shipping. I give you an option as to how far you're willing to ship--so it shouldn't go far over $25 for someone who stays within their continent. (I hope???)

When?
All entries must be in by Saturday April 19th at 4pmToronto/New York time. (Thats when I finish work). I will hopefully have everyone 'matched up' by Sunday morning.

Open day will be June 14th** (If you need it to be a bit earlier, let me know and I'll make sure you get your gift earlier.) On this day you open your gift and show the world (aka veggieboards..) what you got!

How does it work?Fill out the following form, and PM your address to me. (You can PM whatever parts of the entry you want only me and your mail-er to know.)

Please respect the choices of your recipient. I know honey (and I suppose things like certain vitamins etc would be too) is something some do not consider non-vegan. This is not the place to debate that, but please make the effort not to send someone a granola bar with honey in it, mmk?

Oh, and I put username in the thing so I can just copy/paste entries into a word document for my purposes.

To be posted in this thread, or PMed to me:

edit: (Guys I need your addresses for this to work. I'm not PMing those who havent sent it to me, I'm no one's mom.)

edit 2: If your food is going to go stale (ie you baked something?) try and have it arrive to your recipient as CLOSE to June 1st as possible. Clearly write somewhere on the box "open before June 1st" and those recipients can open it the moment they get it. (Technically anyone can open it the moment they get it, but its kind of fun to trade pics the same day?)

edit 3: Here's a list of the people who have completed their submission (i.e. there is an address for):

1. Myself

2. barefootchick

3. pinkmama

edit 4: can I just say that those who want food from another country who are willing to ship to other countries take priority to those who are not willing to ship far. Only because its only fair that those who pay more, recieve greater service? I'll still try to make everyone happy, but a word of warning.

Favourite food/flavour/snack: Anything I have not tried before, region specific, anything really.
Just a though wrt the opening date: if someone gets their package much earlier than this by chance, they may not want to wait to open it, in case the food gets stale. I think the stuff people will be sending might be um, well preserved anyway, but just saying.

Countries you would be willing to ship to: anywhere inside the EU*

Countries you would be most interested in recieving from: anywhere (except Germany)

Favourite food/flavor/snack: anything

*Edit Apr 14: Anywhere inside the European Union (I've sent a PM to EarthlyDelight),

as I just found out that there are severe restrictions for sending (even sealed) food e. g. to the US and Australia. I just checked the regulations online, and it is either not allowed, too complicated (requires registration, quarantine, etc.) or takes a very long time to arrive (much more than the time window we have here from April 20 to June 1).

I would have liked to surprise some overseas VBer with vegan goodies from Europe, but I'm afraid it will only end in disappointment due to these regulations, so yeah, just put me on the inner-European vegan snack exchange list, please!

Favourite food/flavor/snack: fruity things are my favourite, but i'll like anything, i'm not picky. :p
I have a question: Do these goodies and snacks HAVE to be home made? I am just wondering that if my package goes internationally, they wouldn't mind trying some US/Canadian store bought vegan goodies.

btw this is a brilliant idea!!!

Oh I hope not! I was planning on sending all store bought. I thought it had a better chance of arriving in good condition that way, and I am not a good baker. I would love store bought stuff, myself!
Sounds like a pretty good idea. I might sign up soon.

I was under the impression these were going to be virtually 100% store bought. That's the most likely to make it across borders and survive shipping anyway.

Phew...okay then, please sign me up. I was just concerned, as I am only venturing into vegan cooking, and haven't really found my groove yet
and although I would love to taste other people's home made cooking, I wouldn't really want other to taste mine - for their own sake :p
