Yup, the Yves ones are vegan, if you can get them. We just took a package out of the freezer for breakfast tomorrow morning!

We liked it. In fact, I made vegan dough and wrapped it around a slice of sausage & piece of veggie cheese, baked them. DH loved them for breakfast.

Another vote for GimmeLean. I actually just bought a roll (or whatever the heck you would call that thing) the other day after completely forgetting it existed for a few years... glad I found it again. Trader Joe's Breakfast Patties aren't bad either, but they're a little too rich for frequent consumption. GL is nice and light and comes out juuuust right every time and always hits the spot when I'm having a protein fit.

Although Gimme Lean is a tasty food I do not buy them and I encourage others, especially ethical veg*ns not to buy them as well. They are owned by ConAgra which is the largest beef distributor in the USA. I'd prefer to give them as little of my money as possible.

I think this is a bad argument. If demand for GimmeLean increases, then ConAgra will be able to maintain profitablity while exploiting less animals. This is a good thing. Same thing goes for purchasing Silk, which is owned by Dean Foods.

If you think about it, PETA is currently running a boycott against KFC. They aren't suggesting that we stop getting Vegan fast food from Taco Bell, which is owned by the same parent company. It's important to support Vegan products because the more Vegan products out there, the easier it is for people to go Vegan, the easier it is to educate other people.

...but given the option to support another company that doesn't exploit animals at all is a better choice (IMO).

That brand is my favorite and love that it plays on the name Jimmie Dean! And you can find it pretty much anywhere these days. It comes in a plastic tube thingy in the refrigerator sections.

I just bought the Gimmelean sausage roll to try, I like the mock ground beef they sell, so I thought I'd try the mock sausage. I was going to make like a pasta dish with spaghetti sauce and add the 'sausage", but I think I'll just fry the patties and put it on a roll with L, T, and fried onions. I'll let you all know how it turns out.

I don't always like or agree with what the parent companies stand for, but when they put out a product like this, I see that as a move in the right direction. One advantage of companies like ConAgra or Dean Foods having something like this in their product line is that it will show up in more grocery stores. Some of my (non-vegetarian) relatives bought Gimme Lean after seeing it at the usual store they shop at - a store that doesn't carry any other brands of similar products.
