I think most people here do the best they can. and if anything is apparent they avoid it and try to discover to the best of there ability to find out what things are made of. You choose to avoid it or not. It's really all about personal choice and how far you are willing to go. I try to stay within the vegan Guide lines to the best of my ability, but no one is perfect including myself.

I guess everyone decides how far they are willing to go, since it is impossible to be 100% vegan. I personally would never buy leather shoes or whatever, but I don't question what glues are used. I buy cheap synthetic shoes.

yea a roommate was so nice to point out that the vegan shampoo i use has a label on it stuck on with glue. noone is perfect. just do what you feel is best and screw what other people think. the fact is you are actually trying to make a difference and that in itself says a lot

At worst, the glue used on your shampoo bottle or your sneakers has milk in it, (Casein to be precise). They no longer use boiled animal bones for glue. As someone else pointed out almost all of them are synthetic now.

There are plenty of glues that are not environmentally friendly even though the ingredients are vegan. It's all choice and research.

Apparantly there is a shoe glue referred to as "Commercial Slime" that is vegan and doesn't use petrol products. It is a combo of guar gum and borax. I haven't found out how many companies actually use this.

No one is 100% vegan. The more we learn, the more we are better able to make informed / ethical choices in our day to day lives. Yesterday is over, there is no point sitting around feeling guilty over what we did, when today we can be our best selves and move forward. Embrace today. Embrace your new found knowledge and remember even philosophers put their shoes on every morning.
