I've just made my second batch of these. They're lovely and very much like the real thing. I was unsure about ryvitas but decided to try them anyway. I couldn't find original so I got sesame seed ones. Sometimes you can get a very slight taste of the sesame but otherwise they're perfect. I'll try original when I'm done with these

I'm assuming you mean something like rye crisps, more like a wafer, and not rye crackers like a normal cracker, right?

I assume so, but I'm not really sure. I say try it both ways and report back on which version is the tastiest.

I've seen a vegan hazelnut spread at a HFS... It was pretty expensive, though! It might be cheaper to figure out how to make it yourself, but I'm not really sure.

It seems like rice wafers would work really well in place of rye - just a thought.
