Some time ago I came across a web site that had cards one could print out in any of 20 or so languages reading something like "I am vegan. I do not eat meat, milk, [etc]" but now I can't find it. Ring any bells?

I haven't heard of those, but they sound great! I did a quick search and found these <a href="http://www.allergytranslation.com/Home/home.php" target="_blank">Allergy Translation Cards.</a> You have to pay for them, but they look like you could customize them for a vegan diet.

Sure does! <a href="http://www.ivu.org/phrases/index.html" target="_blank">http://www.ivu.org/phrases/index.html</a><br><br><br><br>
This is aimed at all sorts of vegetarians, not just vegans, but you'll find out how to say you don't eat meat, milk and eggs in quite a variety of languages there.

These are for vegans, and they're for free <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/smiley.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title=":)"><br><br><a href="http://www.lekkerplantaardig.net/vgp/v-pas.htm" target="_blank">http://www.lekkerplantaardig.net/vgp/v-pas.htm</a><br><br><br><br>
The site is in Dutch, but just click on the little smiling guy with the fork next to each country to get the corresponding passport.

I think the Vegan Passport is probably the current version of what I saw at the time. ISTR downloading a few PDF's but can't find them. The V-Pas site is quite useful too.

Tsk, tsk. The Norwegian translation says it's okay for lacto-vegetarians to eat eggs... Just saying.
