I use an alum stone. I think maybe in the States it is known as a Deodorant Stone. (Do not buy the synthetic one if you choose to go this way). And there is no aluminium in it, contrary to what the name may imply.

Here is a link to a webiste (may not be the best website but it's the first one I came across). http://www.deodorantcrystal.com/

I like Tom's long-lasting variety. http://www.tomsofmaine.com/toms/prod...5Fid=BW%2DLLDS

I'm not sure if you'd consider it sticky though. (and I'm not sure if it's organic?)

I tend to blot dry with a towel after applying any deoderant.

Even tom's of maine regular(non-scented) has worked well for me. It may feel sticky going on but give it a second to dry and it should feel fine. One application in the morning had lasted me longer than a day.

i totally have "issues" with body odor (do i smell? am i sure? let me sniff again.) and i've tried many, many different products (including the stones and tom's of maine). i heartily recommend benedetta's "the best deodorant" ($15). it is aptly named; it really is the best. it is vegan, organic, does not contain any chemicals and is free from aluminum, proplylene glycol and parabens. and it works! this is the only product i've found that actually deodorizes. i do keep a container in my purse because i do find i may need a quick spritz on warm days.

it's made by a small company located in sonoma county, california and the owner is extremely knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. in addition to the deodorant, i use their holistic, chemical-free sun care line, which is fantastic. i have also used their skin care products in the past with good success. they offer free shipping, too.

as a bonus, i also love their way of thinking. on "conscious living" from their site :

Quote:

conscious living is to realize that we all have the opportunity to make even simple choices every day - consciously. to really think about the effects of our decisions, not only to ourselves but also to this world we all share. do we choose to recycle? support organic/biodynamic farmers? do we approach our health in a holistic manner? will our choices promote sustainability? but most of all do we choose to honor each breath, each other and ultimately this life.

The Sage plant- Salvia officinalis is well know for its ability to reduce perspiration {you do not want to stop perspiration alltogether though, cause it is just another way that the body rids itself of impurities} But if you drink sage tea or take the tincture of sage you will notice in about two hours how effective it is and it usually lasts for a couple of days. Great for treating night sweats too. You can use the tea or diluted tincture as a wash for your underarms as well.

Mine did that too. Except I didn't drop it. I went on a plane and my bag must've gotten handled kinda rough.

Now I use Crystal Roll-On.

Just FYI, Tom's of Maine (unscented) gave me a rash, which is why I switched to Crystal in the first place.

alum is a salt of aluminum

you may be curious to know that the strongest link between environmental aluminum and alzheimers in a non-isolated population involved alum treated drinking water

Quote:

The latest study comes out of Ontario. Researchers autopsied 800 brains, more than a third of them from people who had diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease. They checked the medical backgrounds of each subject and traced their residential histories, where they've lived and for how long. Then they looked at the records from 55 Ontario municipalities on average amount of residual aluminum in the drinking water supply. What they found was a striking correlation. Communities with high levels of aluminum in the drinking water had higher levels of Alzheimer's Disease.

The aluminum in our water is a chemical called alum. Alum is a cheap and effective way of removing toxic material from our water supply.

I'm not aware of any link between free elemental aluminum or aluminum cholorhydrate and alzhiemers so you are probably buying the wrong product if you are worried about the health implications of aluminum.

i use the crystal. I honestly don't really care if it's aluminum or not. It's the only thing that has EVER worked for me...

Tom's of Maine is fine, until you start moving around. Lady Mitchum has worked great, whether I'm excercising or not. (It's vegan, but it does have aluminum in it.)

I also had serious rash/burning issues with Tom's. Just a warning to those who haven't tried it.

Same for me with Toms! It made me really sore.

I now use Weleda's Citrus deodorant and I have found it the best I have tried. http://www.weleda.co.uk/Citrus-Produ...ml/invt/106012

Go natural!

Try it for a couple of weeks, you might be surprised that you do not need deodorant.

There's vegan deodorant, but what about ANITPERSPIRANT? I for some reason have wet pits....I started using non-vegan Secret Clinical Stregnth. I hate using a non-vegan product, but I don't know if there's a vegan alternative that would actually work.

Addieb and Taoriver: I had a bad reaction to Tom's too! I was so surprised. Toms of Maine was the last company I would think would give me an allergic reaction. I got a rash and was horribly uncomfortable for a few days. I know plenty of people who use it and have never had any problems though. I wish I could use it!

I use Nature's Gate deodorant. It's kind of sticky and doesn't last very long. I bought the Tom's to replace it, but that didn't work out. I just want something that smells good, doesn't give me an allergic reaction and works!
