I found this .jpg image by accident while searching for something else. It's the best I've seen yet in .jpg format.

It's a VEGETARIAN pyramid - but it adds vegan information where needed.

Anyway - someone might be looking for one.

It makes a nice desktop wallpaper (choose "stretch" and it really looks nice).

I placed it on my daughter's (the Anti-Vegan's) computer - over her Johnny Knoxville/Steve-O wallpaper (does anyone else really hate those guys????)

Vegetarian Food Pyramid .jpg image

I just watched Jackass tonight. I think that show is hilarious, DV.

I don't - I think they are psychotic, and I don't like the way they treat animals.

(but to each his/her own)

I think I know why you're daughter is the anti-vegan. Did you ask if you could do that?

I have the second one Oneness has here printed out. Laminated it, cut up those magnetic pizza ads, slapped them on the back, and hung it on the side of the fridge. My omni roomie tried to point it out as a joke at a party before for some reason, but nobody really looked or laughed.

There's also the old ways vegetarian pyramid too. I first saw one of those on a bag of nuts, and thought it was pretty neat.

It's not even remotely close to being like that Epski.

It's a friendly (and sometimes wacky) ping pong game with us, and I think I'm winning (she would have a good laugh at reading that). Even me calling her the Anti-Vegan is part of the fun as she is a real trooper, honoring my veggieness at home - - unless it involves tofu (though I'm pretty good at hiding it in stuff I make - and she's getting better and better at finding it).

To actually answer your question though: No, I didn't ask her if I could do it! That would have ruined the element of suprise and irritation for her. and - no, she didn't "mind" - she just clicked a butten and put back her Jackass wallpaper (no big deal)

OH YAY!!!!! I am not the only one who is raising the "Anti-Vegan"! My sons refuse to eat anything that has a vegetable in it............."ggggrrrrr - I just want meat". My favorite is when my youngest son tells his friends "there's never anything but rabbit food and barley in my house"! However.....the boys are the first to always stand by my decisions on how I eat. They eat their way - I eat mine. We get along fine!

As far as Jackass goes.....some of it, you have to admit, IS pretty funny. And yes, some of it is gross. But, since my son has his own t.v. in his room.......he can watch all the Jackass he wants.

And yes, Oldways has a great Vegetarian Pyramid. It makes looking at what you are doing daily very easy to follow. Just look up USDA.Gov and you should be able to see the pyramids AND look at food breakdowns. It's really interesting.

I disagree with those pyramids that have grains at the bottom of the base. For optimim health, vegetables and fruits should be the base. Much more nutrients and phytochemicals in veggies & fruits!

A few months ago, I inverted my eating pyramid and am now eating mostly veggies & fruit with lesser amounts of grains. I feel a lot healthier and I have lost weight and no longer get starch cravings and blood-sugar crashes.

Hahaha.

My daughter has a lot of fun with the veg/anti-veg thing. She is always coming up with something. She goes over-board sometimes, but I know it's all in good fun. She hung out with me when I was learning to make Tempeh. As the mold grew she kept on about "you know mom, that mold is GROWING - it's really going to be a shame to eat it - ....I mean look....it's GROWING - It's ALIIIIIVVVEEE!!! (dramatically like she was in a horror movie) Maybe we could get a cage and keep it as a pet....no WAIT! - we can't do that because then that would be animal slavery. and so on and so forth.......jeez. Last year I learned to make Seitan and the first thing I put it in was tacos. I served it saying this is a meat substitute - she bit in - looked at me and said (trying to look concerned and serious) "you really are losing touch with reality aren't you?".

I think maybe 10 percent of Jackass is funny - the rest is stupid, gross, or just plain mean-spirited. Especially when they mis-treat animals. I might just be a stick in the mud - but that's me. I'm 40 years old.....maybe that has something to do with it

Jadzia: I agree that veggies/fruits should be more prominent. I always eat twice the amount recommended on the pyramid without even trying - but I have to really try hard to meet the minimum amount of grains.

I like Jadzia`s idea of inverting the pyramid.

The Vegetarian Starter Kit shows the Food Pyramid the way Jadzia describes. I gave that to a friend tonight that is relying on me to help him try veganism.

Yeah, since when do we need 6 servings of grains in a day?! I've never eaten that much in the way of grains, even when I was eating meat. People should eat mostly veggies and fruits...including meat eaters.

I love it when a meat eater says "I eat vegetables. I had a piece of lettuce on my burger!"

A piece of lettuce. Hmph.
